Politics and kissing hiney is important once an Officer advances past the Field Grade status. My guess is that at the time it was good politics for the Army to give the options. It would have created negative news in the media if it was not offered.

I’ve tried to keep my opinion open about the arrest of his wife until the facts are released but the video definitely put a bad light on him. However the post with the child is simply to much to over look in my mind now though, he’s obviously playing the victim card and showing everyone his true colors not to mention trying to throw the officer under the bus for simply doing his job and calling for his termination is nothing short of insane before any facts are brought to fruition. He committed political suicide IMO and we’re probably better off knowing all of this now verses finding out later on.

I still can’t wrap my head around what part of his brain thought him and his daughters posts were a good idea though, obviously common sense doesn’t run very deep in thr gene pool.

He was Lt Col, and He had 22 years In when he retired. At 20 years Of service you are eligible for retirement @ 50% of your last three years base pay. 30 years is 75%. It's actually pretty standard for most officers to retire as 05’s, as it normally takes 16-22 year's to make 05
