Derek, you need to setup an online program where people you ship the necessary fertilizer at the time it needs to be applied. I don’t always have time to go get the product and often miss the window for applying it, sure would be nice to just used it delivered when it’s needed so I don’t miss the opportunity to apply it

It is out there on a liquid hose end and the product sucks. But not as a granular for the most part. If you miss a fertilizer app here and there no big deal. Pre Emergent is a big one for me. You need to target those dates(depending on the product) or fight them all year long post.

It won't let me edit my post. Correction on the app rate on this product. The AI is a tad lower on the Anderson's vs the Phos. This product you would apply at 3.5lbs per 1000 - Aug/Feb.

Neighbors lawn is giving me anxiety. Dallis pressure is insane. I’m going to light it up in about 30 days.

What are you putting out that needs to to wait 30 days? I am just curious as I sprayed MSMA two weeks ago to kill dallisgrass in my bermuda.

You can get a few clumps out with a sharp garden hoe.

Just going to let it cool a little to minimize the yellowing effect. Though I shouldn't. Not like his could look any worse. Probably tank mix Celsius and MSM with it. Those I'm not worried about the heat. He's covered in KR Blue Stem too. It should start to pop pretty soon. It's worse than Dallis. I'm going to do an app of MSMA on it and see if it works. KR Bluestem is a freaking beast. I hate it.

I have it in one corner of my lawn and have been choking it out with healthy St Augustine for a couple years now, but still have a small patch right along the road about 6ftx16ft. Will the MSMA kill St Augustine along with the Dallis grass?

MSMA will kill St Aug. Your best option is to get so roundup and a paint brush and brush it on the Dallis. The next 3-4 weeks are peak growing for turf in NTX. Hit it now with roundup and you'll be able to mow out the yellowing in 2-3 mowings. Use Prodiamine pre emergent to keep any of the Dallis seeds that have fallen from germinating. Your February app of pre would be very important for that.

How many applications of MSMA can a yard handle in a given time period. I know I need to spray again to hit some places I missed and hit some places that aren't looking completely dead.

Label says no more than 2 applications per season. If your using a pump up sprayer and spot spraying I wouldn't worry to much about it. I watch yearly max rates on products closely if I'm blanket spraying the whole yard. And most product you just need a very light coating on the weed to work and not a 5 second soak down. That's why I don't worry too much about spot spraying.

Do you prefer granules for pre-emergent? I have some Resolute 4FL Herbicide that I got from an old family friend. I do not have a boom sprayer so i do not know if this should even be considered for my situation. I know I need to be very proactive in my pre-emergent care this year so I do not lose the progress I have made.

I just had our current hard destroyed with an irrigation system and went with a Hunter X2 14 controller on the front yard and after figuring the system out I’m happy to report it’s a great system. Hopefully one day soon it will be daylight when I leave or get home and can take some pics of what the new yard looks like. Now I’m told I need a fix to the nut grass problem on the new sod since the landscaper can’t seem to remedy the situation,,, Derek what’s your recommendation to remedy this problem? I’ve never had this problem that couldn’t be easily fixed by them spraying .

I bought some over the counter (big box store) nut sedge control stuff a couple of months back. did application, waited about a week to 10 days and re-applied. Seemed to work very well. I would need to look to see what brand it was though. Could look back earlier in this thread too as that was where I got the info.

I do not have a boom sprayer so i do not know if this should even be considered for my situation. I know I need to be very proactive in my pre-emergent care this year so I do not lose the progress I have made. I spray. For the simple fact it's much cheaper to squirt than it is to spread granular per 1000 or Acre. And at the end of the day, they both have to be watered into the soil to work within 7-14 days after application. I never go more than 48 hours to water in Pre. That said. I recommend granular for you. I don't know your square footage, but you mention boom spraying, so I'm thinking you have a decent amount? I knew Lowes was starting to stock some Lesco products, but since we don't have one I don't get by there often to check what all they have. It was brought to my attention by a nice THF'er that they have the Lesco 0-0-7 Prodiamine in stock. $25 per 50lb bag. That's a great deal. Look at the label rate on it. Max per lb per year will probably be 6.5ish. per 1000. Divide that by two and and spread out 3.75 per 1000. That was a generic example, but probably pretty close. It will be a smaller prill size so make sure you have a decent spreader, barely open(adjust as needed), wide passes and spread it evenly the best you can. You'll be fine. You got this. If you want to get into backpack or boom spraying do it over winter and practice with water.

Roll with Sedgehammer (Halosulfuron) easy to mix packs or ball out and go Certainty (Sulfosulfuron), not to be confused with some of the zones. You'll get great results.

Do any of you over seed with winter rye? I'm going to test it out on my backyard this year. Went with Grand Slam from Ryan Knorr. Going to scalp my backyard in about 4 weeks and hammer down some seed and see how it goes.

Do you plan on walking on the lawn? It always seems like it needs too much water when I see the rye put down.

Got my pre-emergent out before the rains. I am seeing a decent return of my dallisgrass after MSMA application earlier this month. It was thick in a few places and was expecting some to come back but was hoping for less that what is coming back. Is this from the MSMA not killing the plant completely or is it coming up from seeds?

You're looking at a multi app process. Dallis is a beast. It also typically goes dormant in winter after bermuda does. So come fall as soon as the bermuda is dormant and the Dallis isn't Light it up with 41% glyphosate and methylated seed oil as your surfactant. What is your height of cut? Conditions on most of the weed killers to be very effective for these tough to kill weeds is it to be on low cut turf. Dallis is a big one that hates being low cut. The higher the lawn and weeds are cut the more resistant they can be, improving their survival rate. Basically when the weeds are low cut and cut often they have to produce a ton of energy to try to produce more growth. The combo of the stress of being low cut and using up all this energy and then an herbicide applied on them is something they typically can't overcome.
