I paid $7.90/50# bag in Harper at Bode's yesterday. Supposed to be that same price till today also. All corn and deer protein will be $1/off normal price per bag from 9/3 to 9/4/2021.

On Brookshires, normallly starting about now Brookshires will give you the tenth bag free if you buy 9 and increments of 10 after that. You have to have their "thank you/loyalty card" to get that but its free and easy to get in store. I do not know that for a fact but they used to every year and they had told me they expect to.

My buddy who owns the feed store in Livingston mentioned prices are slowly going down, so he is keeping corn down to what it was for the weekend at $7.99.

I tried that at my Brookshires and they said, rifle season has to be open to get the free bag. But heck, I'll be buying corn then also.

They have not done it this year, I will have to ask them about it. Topped feeders off this week and won't go back till opening morning.

So whats that mean to us dummies? I know down is good, but any guesses on timing and how much? Harvest in STX is starting to trickle in, Next NTX, Okla, KS and Mid west. Here is Kind of a laymen way of explaining it. It's should take a tremendous dip here shortly. When is depending on what resellers bought/contracted at. This will determine how long until dip happens at the retail level. Corn from field is sold two ways, across the scale meaning current price at elevator or by contract( meaning that was set/sold before harvest ) Example - I may contract out a circle at 33k bushes at a set price before harvest. If futures where trading @ 7oo for Nov back in March. I'd make $3 more a bushell then what the current elevator is paying at today's price. Needless to say the past few months of futures are high because it was still last year's corn. As new corn comes in It lowers the futures price to match market supply. Big retailers contract for the future based on estimated sales #’s. Smaller retailers/resellars buy more daily market price.
Bottom line, never trust a man whose uncle was eaten by cannibals.-Sen Joni Ernst
