Yes, that is true. Chupacabra however, is a different story altogether.

In my area coyotes are known to come into contact with people in parks, neighborhoods, backyards, and even parking lots. They have been known to snatch cats, small dogs, and attack kids. I drove one night and seen one coming out of a park heading into the neighborhoods and I got on my community blog and warned the neighbors of the direction of the coyote. Yes they need to be controlled.

Simple. They can and will kill my livestock. I have rode up on a cow standing guard over a half eaten newborn calf. I have rode up on a cow that was down trying to calve and coyotes packed up on her, finished off the calf and started on the cows soft parts. I have seen cows that were down, coyotes started on both ends and met in the middle. It's nature, I know. But any time I have a chance to shoot a coyote, that coyote gets shot. They are either left laying or hauled to the bone pile that they helped create. I came across a cow that his 10 coyotes on her carcass this past bow season. I had my rifle in the truck but only had 3+1 and 2 in my pocket. 4 coyotes didn't leave the pasture. Talked to the Rancher the next day, and he asked why I didn't kill any more of them. When I told him I ran out of ammo, he offered to give me some...alas, he didn't have any .308. I kill them for the cattle, the fawns, and the Turkey.

When I worked out of Falcon Dam for Customs Investigations (now ICE) we worked at least to hours of overtime a day and got an extra 25% on the salary for overtime. Don't get excited there were plenty of times we worked 20 hours plus on surveillance and still only go the 25%. But, the US side of the lake is higher than the Mexican side and I would go out, north of marker 2 and set up to watch the Mexican side and see if any boats were coming across. If nothing was happening I would call coyotes. Nothing like being the hunted. I love it. Unfortunately know a days, up in Val Verde County, there aren't any coyotes to hunt. Ranchers are big on keeping them away from the sheep and goats.

We have killed almost every coyote that we have seen (a few got away) and have snared even more. And we still hear them howling every night all around us. My daughter ended a trophy hunt when she watched three coyotes circling in on a new born calf. One coyote didn't make it and another had bullets zinging around him as he ran off. The rancher thanked her and invited her back.

We usually shoot and trap them in winter when prime. Our furs are worth a bit still. If we have a problem in a certain area we will take anytime possible. Take a look at this scraggly but still fluffy yote. Regular on this trail cam so we have a good target this fall.

We used to have a lease with a sheep rancher, and he actually wrote a clause into the lease that we had to make all reasonable efforts to kill every coyote we saw. I have witnessed yotes going after calves, fawns, and even full-grown deer when they were in a pack. If you've ever walked up on a carcass that has been eaten from the arse end, then it was likely taken by coyotes.
Right here in Plano we have a few regulars that hang around our neighborhood greenbelt. They can jump a six foot fence in order to drink from a swimming pool, and presumably they are the cause for many of the missing fur baby signs we have posted on light poles. I've also had them chasing after my dog while walking at night. They are so used to humans that they won't run away until you are within 30 feet or so.

I have lost 3 calves this calving season to coyotes. This one showed up at the feeder while I was bow hunting. It was facing me and was acting very nervous so I shot him in the throat before he had could bolt. Might be the coolest kill shot I've ever made.
