Inflation folks, we keep depreciating the currency so things are going to go up. 1oz of silver would buy about the same amount of corn last year vs this year.

Like a third of US dollars in circulation were printed in the last two years. If the government would quit trying to get blood from rocks, prices would stabilize. I don’t think they will ever go backdown. You could realistically expect to sell a used truck this year for more than you paid last year.

Some Brookshires grocery stores are 7.99 for 50#. Closer to season they usually give the tenth free if buy 9. Some one else said they were 40# bags so maybe all stores arent the same but that would be unusual for Brookshires. I dont think most are set up to handle large volume or help load but not sure. Albany used to help load quantity so maybe in deer rich locales they do....

Wow
It's hard to believe I'm going to type this next part of this sentence.......That sounds like a great price.

Cheapest I can find around here right now is out little local feed store that bags their own corn that they grow, harvest, and store and it is $9.00

Have been buying Academy Deer Corn for the last couple of years due to convenience. I noticed it has gone up $2/bag to $8.99 but I occasionally get offers via email like $20 off $100 purchase and try to take advantage of those when I can. They used to be more generous and I was able to get $20 off $75 purchase a couple years ago.

Brown Feed in Lampasas (usually cheapest in central TX, brought in by rail car and bagged on site) was $8.50 for 50# bag. While in Lampasas, I swung by Hoffpauir Ranch & Supply to pick up some feeder brackets & assorted parts, asked their corn price, they said $10.50. This was last Friday, June 25, 2021.

Wolfe City Grain will sell to the public, they're at $9 a bag if you buy a pallet. They're expecting prices to come down a bit in the next month or so when the locals start to harvest.

Not that I understand the commodity markets but corn dropped a dollar a bushel yesterday. Hope it trickles down to the retail market soon.

Find a couple of these on CL for around $150 and it’s way easier and after the first use you still save money. I think I have 7 of them and they hold roughly 2500 pounds each with a valve on the bottom for easy pouring into whatever you want to use. I normally just use 5 gallon buckets or reuse old feed or corn sacks. You can also buy corn in bulk at feed stores and save a bunch of money this way.
Only drawback is you either need a trailer to leave them on after loaded or a tractor/skidsteer to unload them. They do collapse into itself when not being used as well,, The corn guys any number of 9 friends, I buy from whoever harvests first.

I know you know this but for anyone else buying out of the field becareful with your moisture.

If it's been bagged like mine below typically you will be fine. I wouldn't spend the money to bag and store, if it was high moisture, if that makes any sense

As far as futures they are starting to drop so corn should be back to 5-6 per 50 cleaned and bagged by Oct

I just called the Brookshire's distribution warehouse in Lufkin and it is $369.99/ton- 50- 40lb bags. That figures at $7.40/bag which is cheaper than Walmart/

Russ, does that mean thats the price at all their stores? And is that now or how far into future? And I thought Brookshires usually sells 50# bags. I guess that would be the equivalent of 9.25 per 50#s. Maybe Im confused.....
