In October, bull reds in the surf. Laid back fishing with periods of mayhem. You will have the beach pretty much to yourself. And can catch redfish as long as your leg.

Red Snapper season in Federal waters ends August 3'rd (2 fish limit), but you can catch a 4 fish limit in State waters year round...if yall are interested in snapper fishing.
For inshore pier fishing, there are some good fish to be caught that time of year. Bull reds are making their annual run to the Gulf in October, are a lot of fun to catch, and easily caught from many piers and a few other locations from land (sitting and watching type fishing). If you guys decide on the Port Aransas/Aransas Pass/Rockport/ or CC areas, shoot me a PM and I would be glad to help with tips and advice on locations/rigging/bait etc. I have lots of experience fishing these areas. Just FYI - in Port Aransas some of my favorite piers were claimed by Hurricane Harvey and have still not been rebuilt, but there are other places to go.
True story. The wife and I go down to Rockport almost every October and fishing is on point. (Usually stay in Copano Village) LOTS of trout and usually some good reds. Weather is more times than not cooperative too. Where do you stay at Copano Village? Thank you all by your advise I may be burning up your cell phones come October!!!! We are looking at The Light House Inn as well as Pelican Bay Resort. Anyone??? Have had several really good experiences booking houses from the site below. (used them and stayed probably 20 or so times, stay on the Bay side) If you rent a house on a canal, the fishing pretty much sucks, so you'll want to book a charter or go somewhere to fish. For the houses on the bay, I have always caught high numbers of Specks and Reds. Have also landed several 40#+ Back Drum from the piers at a few of the houses. Useless fish when they get that size but fun a hell to catch. https://www.rockporthomerentals.com/

"It's raining it is pouring, the old man is snoring."
Be sides you posting to get another post count, how does it help the people wanting to go fishing?
My better half wants to go to the Texas coast for a week in late October to fish. By fish like fish every day we are there.Galveston is not an option on this one as we both have been and did not like anything about it. It was actually the nastiest Texas beach we had been.
So..........well we like SPI and CC. I also hear Port Aransas is good for fishing. We will be doing the pier and harbor, park type fishing. We are not doing the guided stuff as we have in the past and not doing the party boats for 2 red snapper. Looking more at sitting and watching and hoping we get a bite.
Gimme some ideas:_____Don't waste your time waiting on Bill to help you.

Those are super nice. thanks looking into some of those 7mag, We have a place in Rockport. We spend about a month plus a year down there. Weirdly enough we will also go rent and stay a few days on the island. kids like beaches, plus it's a change if scenery It's has a lot of pluses but some minuses to Port A. Biggest difference is people. Port A has a TON of people and the drunk idiots can be an issue. Port A has more restaurants, but Rockport has better top end quality IMO. By Aug hoards of drunk people will probably be a non-issue. Fishing wise Port A has more accessibility because you have walk in for both bay and ocean. Rockport has more back porch type fishing rentals, so its kind of a trade off. With that said. You can drive to port a in 20 min depending on ferry line. I personally would book a few one off type fishing trips, like a flounder gigging with Surrender at Sunrise(you need to book now though). Something different With out a boat, Fishing wise you just have to remember your wind direction
