We just got back from Concan two weeks ago, floated the Frio and played a day in a watering hole on the Nueces. If you've never been to the Nueces, it's something to see. Clearest water I've ever seen in Texas. Standing 10 feet up on the bank fixing to take a swing on a rope, I could see a catfish searching the bottom for scraps. Standing shoulder deep having a few cold ones, you could look down and watch the perch chasing each other around. It was amazing.

I believe there is a retirement village in Highland Village that has a lazy River around it’s pool. Sounds like your speed

We were on the Frio last week and the float was good. Also, there are several swimming holes around.

Blue Ridge, Georgia. Good fishing too. Get a cabin on the river.

Comal in New Braunfels, worlds shortest river.

The Buffalo National River in Arkansas is hard to beat for floating. The Gilbert area is my favorite.

One shot is all it should take.

People don't float down it, they float across it.

You beat me to it...I was going to suggest the stretch along the River Road just below Presidio and out at Lajitas.

The Colorado start at Robert Lee, 2 good places to take out, south of Bronte or at Ballinger. Be careful of any exits, all the property is private. Another is the Concho, in at Mullins Crossing and take out at Paint Rock. Again except at bridges everything is private property.

Beautiful river. If he’s talking about taking a canoe trip, it gets pretty hairy with rapids. I’ve never seen anyone tube it before, but maybe there’s a stretch where it’s more conducive to tubing, or maybe they do it in the summer. Usually mid-June is the cutoff for canoeing because of water levels.

We were there for our annual canoe float Memorial Day weekend and it was anything but calm. They had almost as much rain as we had, and it was a much faster float than normal. The rapids were a little more aggressive, too, and we saw three groups lose their canoe when they dumped over and the canoe got pinned behind rocks, which is probably impossible to recover until the current slows down in the summer. Regardless, the canoes we saw were broken and unrideable.

But, it is a beautiful river everyone should take time to visit. I think some outfitters rent rafts, which might be more BIL’s speed if he’s looking for calm.
