I remember helping my brother adjust the valves on his 68 Camaro 327. Pull the valve covers, put the oil dam in place, crank it up and start adjusting.

Wow, Adjusting while running? I need to find a video on that procedure.

My father showed me how to adjust the valves while engine is running. Chevy straight 6.
A few well placed rags to control the oil, loosen rocker till it rattles bad then tighten till it is quiet. Pretty much done by feel.
My grandfather was the Chief Engineer on big ships, retired in the '50s, and he said they did a lot of repair while the engine was running.

I don’t doubt it can be done but I sure don’t don’t understand why you would. Intake and exhaust have a hot and cold valve lash spec, it’s pretty easy stuff. Now on a Motor that has to stay running that’s a good knowledge to have.

Yeah, I've done that on daily drivers. I used to race an Austin-Healey and for it I'd put the tranny into 4th gear and push the car back and forth until the cam was at the proper position for the valve of interest. Adjust that one and move on.
I also raced an early Mazda RX-7. No valves to adjust on it.
