They seem to be expanding their range. Sightings have been confirmed in places in OK where they haven't been seen in year's past.

They seem to be expanding their range. Sightings have been confirmed in places in OK where they haven't been seen in year's past. Get out of town. Literally.

In my gun toting childhood back in NE Louisiana, I’d spend a whole day stalking along the ‘borrow pits’ along the Mississippi River and shooting snakes and red wing blackbirds. I killed a LOT of Cottonmouths with my old Stevens 87D. Probably, if not for shooting snakes, I’d have been forced into a world of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Snake shooting saved me…..maybe….
I thought I had left Cottonmouths behind when I moved to Texas, but I almost stepped on one here on my own place a year or so ago. I terminated him.

there's no venomous snake that I prefer to kill more than a cottonmouth.
vile creatures.
Ditto Shooting one in the head and then smelling that venom smell brings a smile to my face.
