Growing quick in my neck of the woods. Please note, feeder etiquette is similar to urinal etiquette. They are growing fast! Damn nice bucks. Thats sketchy urinal behavior... they almost appear to be peaking at each other? Do yall see a good fawn crop every year?

If thats from your home place I guess I need to get my camera back out.
Yes sir I am pretty sure I know him well and if it is the one I think it is he is 5 this year. His running buddy got shot last year by one of my new neighbor 'ranchers' at 4.5 and would have been a stud. The pic of him laying dead was posted on a FB group called S TX low fence hunting and the post with that pictures said something like "Here is something you don't see very often...a mature buck in St. Hedwig". It was all I could do not to reply (and likely get booted out of the group) and say something like.....no, if you would have let him walk another year or two he likely would have gotten mature and looked like this one (insert pic of my deer from 2019). Very frustrating to see folks buy 11 or 12 acres and abuse it by setting up and OVER hunting it and killing any decent buck that steps out no matter the age.
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Not much antler here but pretty interesting none the less. I knew there were some on our lease and they finally showed up early this morning at my corn feeder and I knew it wouldn't take em long to find the protein feeder 200 yds away. The good thing is we have them. The bad thing is they seem to have gotten damn comfortable very quickly at my feeder that just got 850 lbs dumped in it Monday! I'm pretty sure there little running buddy is a Sika buck.

Coming on strong at my little place. I changed over to RAX-MAX protein and they've gone wild for it consuming more feed the past 8-10 weeks than they have the past 3+ years. Great looking younger deer here. Unfortunately, the chances of him surviving to another year are slim will all the new 'ranch owners' near us now. A couple that are a year or two older here.

Not a whole lot for our little place in NW Wilson Co. The temps and house build have the deer pretty nocturnal for the moment and general feeder visitors down.

Heck, you can't be more than a mile or two from me. My back fence is only about 300-400 yards from the county line Nice looking little buck. I do not envy you building a house at all in this crazy inflation.

Tried to hunt this one last year a little. He was out in the daylight in the mornings some. This go round I have the feeder only feeding in the evenings due to construction workers being there during the morning and day. He was a solid 8 last year, not huge but I feel like he is definitely mature. I mowed a bunch of weeds/little brush and the corn stalks around the feeder this weekend, was worried they would be standoffish of it since the change but that evening they were back like normal.

Redchevy, and anyone else mowing this time of year, please be careful of those fawns that just wont run when they are first born. Good luck on that 8.

hahaha Yeah, I bought a Scag Cheetah a couple years ago and it takes a beating on my place for sure. Freerange is right though and I was very nervous last week when I laid down my coastal. I believe I got lucky and didn't have any get under that disc cutter.........thank goodness.

I believe I got lucky and didn't have any get under that disc cutter.........thank goodness. Hitting one that survives would be impossible with all the coyotes.... In all my years of cutting coastal and grazer in the Hill Country, I can only remember having one spook from the tractor and run head on into the haybine. They usually run out in front of the tractor or cutter. As the hay field shrank in size to an island that is when you could see the standing hay moving in waves. That was with a very high deer density but the fawning times were so early that it was difficult to find a small fawn in a field by mid June since I would find fawns on the ground the last week of April with most on the ground by late June.

Exactly stxrm. Last year I had 3 of them in a little 8 acre coastal field. One was very small and held tight until the last second...literally. It jumped up and damn near looked like it came out from under the disc mower. It was a damn close call. I would think most of the ones in the lower to mid hill country hit the ground early to mid May. Mine are usually about early June to mid June

Very good growth the past 3-4 weeks even with very limited time at my protein feeders. I guess all the rain popped the natural good stuff for the boys so they haven't been coming round very much. Too bad a good majority of these bucks will likely not make it through another year due to all the new 'ranch owners' who bought the 11-15 acre tracks on the place that was split up that bordered us on 2 sides. smdh If this is the deer I think it is I believe he is only 3.5. I'm not sure yet which deer this is from last year but I have an idea and if it is the one I'm thinking of he is 5 this year. I'm pretty sure this one is also 5 and was a really pretty 9 point in the mid to upper 120s last year. He had a small G4 on one side last year.
