Just an FYI, Hodgdon has CFE-BLK in stock in 8 pound containers. Just ordered one.

In this world of hazmat manufacturing and shipping regulations who would have ever imagined that bullets would be the weak link in the supply chain.

Am I missing something? Perhaps it's a joke I'm not getting. I've seen Nosler 110 Varmageddon's for 27¢ shipped, 147 FMJ pull-down non magnetic 16¢ (18¢ new), 150gr SP pulldowns 18.8¢, 110 Vmax 34¢, Barnes Tac TX 110 FB 69¢, and a few others in the last week.. all prices are shipped. I got me another 2k SP's and 1k FMJs..

I know you probably want 14¢ Speer TNT's, Exotic Sierra's, FTX's, and SST's.. But who doesn't?.. 😞

Like a lot of guys I have thousands of projectiles I could stuff into cases but there isn't a reason to.

There isn't a reason for me to waste a primer on loading non optimal projectiles since I already have HAM'R ammo as well as BKL and X39 covering the bases for less optimal Im here for what Hamr does over those. Im done shooting hogs with rapid expansion bullets. I hate pulling one or 2 off the kill site and buzzard tracking the rest the next day.

I dropped this boar last night in his tracks with the 150gr SST. This bullet works great on hogs and has not let me down yet. I hope they get some in stock soon at Wilson, don’t want to run out.

Good job on the hog

We're getting NOTHING out of Hornady, we have POs dating back to Oct 2020 that have not been filled !!! Same for Sierra and Barnes, all they do is keep extending the delivery times on our POs without shipping us anything. If it wasn't for Speer and Lehigh we'd be out of the HAM'R ammo business.

That’s not good news Mr Wilson. I used another of my 150gr SST to make a bloody mess.

MC - the good news is where you shoot them....any bullet will have the same results wink

I'm working on load options for a HAM'R load that will be adequate for large tough game such as a Nilgai. The test load I'm working on utilizes a Barnes 130gr TTSX that I buzzed the polymer tip off using a belt sander. The basic load is:

Barnes 130gr TTSX (modified), 2.240" OAL
25.5gr CFEBLK lot #8
CCI450
New nickel Sig mfg case
2410fps from a 16" barrel

NOTE: This load appears to be safe in my barrels, but has NOT been pressure tested.

Killed a couple of hogs with the Barnes 130gr TTSX this am and brought a 150# one back to camp for bullet testing.

Recovered bullets were shot through the hog and captured in water. Shooting distance was 100yds.

Penetration was 18"-22", retained weight was 128.9 to 129.3 grains and they all expanded to .470"-.480". I would like to have seen a little more expansion, but for big tough game as intended I think they will do fine out to 100yds.

The photo with the loaded round and bullets is the modified Barnes beside a Speer 150gr HAM'R BONDED for comparison. Groups on the 8" steel plates were 3 shots from 100yds from two different 1-13 twist barrels, as you can see the accuracy is very good.

Is the 130 TSX too long or shaped in such a way as to not be usable over the TTSX?

God bless.

Bill, what’s the reason for removing the polymer tip? Just getting the correct OAL? Inquiring minds want to know.

To get the correct ogive to throat length for accuracy and more usable powder space.

Shadowfast1, the nose length of the TSX makes it a no go, see above

Bill,

You see this version of the 130TTSX being a better option for heavier game than the 150 bonded?

Too early to tell at this point, it might give a more straight line penetration? I've only shot two hogs with it at this point, so very little data.

Due to an unprecedented demand for our AR barrels we are having to make some hard choices on production to enable us to fill the most customer orders. In order to maximize our production and deliver the most barrels WITHOUT sacrificing any quality we must run higher quantities of fewer calibers and variations per production run. Until this massive panic buying subsides we will only be producing barrels in the following calibers and fewer variations within these calibers.

.223/5.56
6.5 Creedmoor
.300 Blackout
300 HAM'R
.308 Win
.458 SOCOM

How does this affect the 300 HAM'R???

Since the 1-13 twist is the most versatile for all suitable bullet weights and we must produce this twist for the popular 11.3" length barrels we will only be producing barrels with the 1-13 twist rate. The variations we are going to focus due to past sales numbers are:

11.3" SBR (round)
16" Ranger (round)
16" Recon (round)
18" Tactical Hunter (fluted)

Once this "PANIC" eventually subsides, we will resume production of more lengths and profiles. If there is still a demand for 1-15 twist barrels we will also resume production of them.

I know we've discussed the pros and cons of the two twist rates here before, but as a brief refresher....

1-13:
Shoots all bullet weights from 95gr to 150gr well
Is optimal for 130gr-150gr bullets

1-15:
Shoots all bullet weights from 95gr to 150gr well, however at extremely cold temperatures of below zero some 150gr bullets may become unstable
Is optimal for 95gr-130gr bullets

I know some of you are thinking, "why do we have two twist rates anyway"???

When the cartridge was originally developed we were relying on A1680 powder and we couldn't safely reach the velocities we wanted for 150gr bullets. So we focused on 125gr-130gr load development and the 1-15 twist tested (we tested 1-11.25, 1-12, 1-13, 1-14 and 1-15) out to be the most accurate with these bullet weights. Fast forward to when we discovered CFEBLK and we found that we were no longer limited to 130gr bullets, that we could actually equal the time proven .30-30 Win velocities with 150gr bullets at safe pressures. At this point we did more testing and found the 1-13 twist to be optimal for 135gr-150gr bullets and it eliminated the possibility of a 150gr bullet becoming unstable in extreme cold weather conditions.

Since I shoot a lot of 135gr-150gr bullets I "personally" prefer the 1-13 twist.

Lastly, we just finished a pretty good sized run of 1-15 twist barrels and think we will be able to fill our current existing orders for these.

Hunting on the famous King Ranch

Nilgai
60yd shot on the shoulder, as you would expect he took off, fortunately running straight away in an opening in the Oaks, shot #2 took out his spine and down he went. Speer 150gr Gold Dot #308BLKGDB at 2310fps. This is probably the TOUGHEST animal I've taken with the 300 HAM'R. 9 5/8" so was a very nice bull

Waterbuck
90yd shot on his right shoulder, he ran 15-20ft and stopped with his left shoulder facing me so I put one on that shoulder too, down he went for the count
Looks like I'm now in for a day and a half of hog/coyote hunting. This is my third Waterbuck with the 300 HAM'R
