Killed the Axis on the left side July 2019, the mount i received back (right side) in April 2021. To make this abbreviated, I was taken on a hunt and same person offered to do a shoulder mount so I said ok. Ranch owner and "guide" took my trophy to "the taxidermist." As soon as I saw the mount, which honestly looks very old or very poorly done, I knew it was not my deer. Have had multiple stories from multiple people but this is tye mount delivered to me and today another involved party reaches out to see if he can help make it right but claims the pictures "others" say it is the same deer and I got my trophy back. What say you? It is fairly easy to tell from the pics but also mine was just shy of 33" and the mount is barely 28".

Looks different to me.
What ever you call the antler closest to the eye is shorter, less mass and has less curve on the mount.

The mount is a nice axis, but not as nice as the one you actually killed!

While they do have similarities, they are different.

Like the others it does not look like the same buck and there will not be 5 inches of beam length shrinkage due to rack drying out/aging.

Very similar up top but there is no doubt yours had much better brows that hooked much more than the mount they gave you.
To me it is flat out incompetency that they could actually mix up sets of antlers at a taxidermist. There is absolutely no excuse for it at all. I can see how a cape could get mixed up, NOT the antlers.
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

I'd say no, but who has yours? Sounds like a mistake and someone has the same feeling you do right now

Not the same that's for sure! Seems like there are more and more people taking advantage of hunters because they know we are wanting to do something that we are passionate about. I had two hunts fall thru in 2020 because of lowlife individuals like this!

Very different. IMO if they can't recover your mount, they owe you a repeat of the entire hunt for free.
Also, I realize mistakes can be made, but if this is SOP for either the ranch or the taxi, they need to be fully outed.
