Found this pic of my great grandparents today. Grandad, Herman “Fats” Pearce and Mamaw, Gladys. Thought it was interesting. I got to know both of them. They lived into their 90’s in Monahans. Fats was a rough man that owned a welding shop. My great aunt told me he killed two men one night with his bare hands when one pulled a knife on him. I remember the old man tying a rod to his hand so he could still fish when his arthritis got so bad he couldn’t hold on anymore.

Great picture and story. We have been to Red Bluff a few times, it hasn't changed that much over the years.

Very cool. Are there any fish in Red Bluff, these days? I’ve never stopped by, but I never see much in the way of boats, there.

Thanks for posting it up!
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

Fantastic picture and story as well.
Pretty easy to see your great grandmother was not afraid of hard work either. How many women today would kill to have arms ripped liked that! Hard work back in the day took care of spending time in the gym as is done today by a lot of folks.
Thanks for sharing with us
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

He was a fun old man to be around. I didn’t care much for her. I think my first camping trip was his last. We camped and fished at the High Bridge. I was probably 5 and he 75. I remember a few pieces of the trip. Back then old people looked old and he looked a 1000 to me. I still cook on a pit he built. It’s got to be at least 70. It’s 1/2” stuff and plenty heavy. I’m sure one of my boys will probably be cooking on it when I’m gone.

Fats' oven mitts of hands look like they could do some serious damage

I was going to comment on his HUGE hands too but TKandMike already beat me to it. I bet those hands were like sledge hammers in a fist fight!

That’s a cool picture. I’ve got to go by Red Bluff this week or next. I wouldn’t eat the fish (if there are any left) outta there these days.

Love the largemouth on the stringer. They get put on a pedestal nowadays, but they really taste pretty good.

Losing a pool game to a guy named Fats is one thing. Getting beat to death by a guy named Fats does not make for a good ending.
