Thanks for the clarification. With the component shortage, I feel like I need to know everything about everything, because when something pops up it doesn't last long enough to decide if it's something that will work for you or not.

Glad to hear Hodgdon is able to supply you guys in good quantities. They are sprinkling a few pounds here and there occasionally to the retail market, and I have managed to pick up a few pounds, but it's still damn hard to come by.

Awesomeness Mr. Wilson! A one man Hog eradicating machine smile If you don't mind me asking, what Pulsar Thermion is that? I just got notified yesterday that my Sightmark Wraith 4k from Outdoor Legacy should be shipping soon. I don't quite have thermal monies and don't get out at night as much as most you Texans smile In my area of GA it's not exactly Hogwild, more coyotes.. but a thrill none the less.

Thermion XQ50, I've been using it for about a year now and so far it's been GTG. I had a XM38 for awhile and the XQ50 is certainly worth the extra cost.

I love my Thermion XQ 50. It is great for stalking pigs and calling coyotes up here in the open country I hunt in. The only thing is, I wish it were lighter. But other than that it is a perfect match for my needs.

Do you have a projected availability date for the 18" Bill Wilson Ranch barrel profile in 300 Ham'r?

Sorry I don't, we're sooo swamped with orders for 5.56 and 6.5CM that's taking up most of our production capacity right now. We just had another complete bbl mfg cell delivered last Fri with a 4 spindle gun drill and 2 spindle reamer, this should allow us to increase our production from the current 2800 bbls per month to a total of at least 6500 bbls per month once it's up and running in 2-3 weeks. As a FYI once we get back to running HAM'R bbls they will be 11.3", 16" Recon and 18" Tac Hunter since those are the best sellers. With the backlog we have now, we just can't afford the switch over time to do any short runs of less than 200 of a specific bbl.

Just got a call from WC, my .300 Ham’r Tactical Hunter is being shipped. FYI, ordered it Dec 1 so about 4.5 months, which is what I was told from the beginning. Can’t wait to try it out. They mounted a Trijicon scope, but I’m going to use QD mounts and set it up with a Thermion XP 50 also. Will be curious to see how well theses mounts retain their accuracy.
Now if my suppressor would be approved, I’d be set. Applied for it about the same time.

Not that its anywhere near linear but I just got my latest form4 stamp back at 6months and 1 week from submittal.
Hopefully yours will be coming along soon. My last one took 14.5months right after they canceled the form4 efiles.

I’ve been browsing this treasure of a thread for a few days now and I don’t see anyone talk about using the Berger 115gr flat base bullets in the HAM’R. I found a box of 500 at a local shop and wonder if I should pick them up. What say Ye?

Looking to load them for an 11.3” pistol and an 18” rifle.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't tried this bullet, but so far all the Berger's I've looked at have too long a nose portion and to get the cartridge down to mag length the ojive has to be seated below the case mouth which is a no go.

On the list for when the 18” fluted tac hunter is available... have a 9” 300BO for SBR looking to consolidate bullet and possibly powder for loading efficiency. Primarily use the Lehigh Defense 110 grain controlled chaos...

Bill I think you are correct. I’ll stick to the 130 HC now that you have them in stock!

I looked into those 115 Bergers as well. From the numbers Berger gives it definitely looks like it would have to be into the case too far to reach correct overall length. It's a shame too because there are a lot of benchrest guys using them in .30 BR's, so they are very accurate. I wonder if the 7.62x40WT guys could run them?

God bless.

Comparing them to the 120gr Barnes for the BLK I believe they’d work fine in that cartridge, not sure about the x40. Don’t have one of them yet.

Although they do have a short base to ogive (0.34in), I think they should work for both cartridges. The bullet OAL =0.94in which is very similar dimensionally to the Hornady 125gr FMJ, which also has a short bearing service. The Berger's are a bit on the pricey side though for my kind of HAM'R fodder. smile

Is there a clear ballistic advantage to the 18” barrel vs. the 16” barrel?

I’m new to the 300 Ham’r just purchasing one recently. Currently I have some of the 130 grain Speer Hot Cor ammo. My rifle has a 16in barrel. can someone send me some info to plug it into a ballistic calculator or maybe share your real world experience with it. I’m wanting to see what the optimal zero distance is and what bullet drop to expect. Thanks!

Mine are running 2450, I think Bill’s 16 inch number with 130’s was a little higher.

You should be getting around 2490-2500fps from your 16"

I usually zero this load at 150yds which will give you a trajectory something like this based on the Hornady ballistic calculator:

50yds 0
100yds + 1"
150yds 0
200yds - 3.1"
250yds - 8.7"
300yds - 17.3"

If you want to do your own calculations the BC of that bullet is .248
