BBar makes an interesting point. This lover of bears was ultimately responsible for the demise of two of them, He loved them to death.

I saw this story a few years back on TV.
Pretty much a DA if you ask me and it was bound to happen sooner or later Jack with the bull enough and eventually you get the horns!
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Saw the doc several years ago. What happened was unfortunate, however, predictable. A bear is going to do what a bear does. Timothy made the mistake of assigning emotion, guilt, conscience and friendship to an animal that doesn't recognize our emotional constructs. Guy was a wackadoodle.

Saw this a few years ago, listened to the recording. Wouldn't want to go out like that.

To me, what's amazing is that it took as long as it did before a bear did what comes naturally. For the record, his girlfriend was terrified of the bears but she went along with Treadwell because she cared about him.

None of those bears are normal there is no hunting, it's a remote National Park. Biggest difference is YNP is more accessible and rangers would of killed it a long time ago.
That park will give you a different perspective for bears. I've been within 20 feet of a sow grizzly and her cub in that park. Not in a enclosure or on a walkway but 20 feet away on a trail with nothing inbetween us but some little trees. Pretty cool place to visit.
