Dude I shot a 33/100 out there 2 years ago. Didn’t even get the DAL trophy, which kind of bummed me. It’s a fun time though and for a good cause

I just bought a Benelli 20 ga M2 turkey gun with the red dot. Ordered it on Gunbroker. Got tired of lugging my heavy old 12 ga Remington. I think the red dot will be super for turkeys. And I don’t really need to shoot 3 1/2” so opted for the lighter gun.

Looked at a Winchester SX4 today at Walmart in Palestine. Fit & feel was acceptable & priced at a little under $800...and I was reaching for the wallet until the counter guy showed me how easy it was for the bolt's cocking piece to fall out of the bolt. Sez it is held in by a ball detent that apparently fails pretty easily and it is a common event on some guns. Suggested I go get a Benelli 300 instead when I mentioned what else I was thinking about for a comparison. Counter guy seemed bigtime lots more knowledgeable than any WalMart EE I've ever run across anywhere.

OBTW that store has a ltd amount of 308 milsurp style ammo in 40 round lots, with a "1 box per customer per day rule" and priced at a little under $40 a box. Kinda made me regret selling the NIB Wby Vanguard 308 I'd salted away from the closeout. Nah I'd never shot it regularly anyway.
