Well just out of curiosity has the capacity of Big Brown Plant, Sandow Plant and Monticello power plants been replaced by other plants. These 3 plants alone could power around 2.1 million homes. I read where the Montgomery County Power Station came online in this year.
I wonder if we had all gone to electric cars, would they be shutting down the charging stations due to the lack of capacity on the grid? We are so far behind the curve on power, a couple of million electric cars would cripple it.

I’d turn down my thermostat if I had power. Three days now with no power. Fireplace is going, but it’s 53 degrees in the den right now. And I’d run the Generac if I wasn’t almost out of propane. Just not having any fun here at the place.

I think Fireman said he had a 500 gallon propane tank. Well, I don’t, but I will. You betcha...

I hate to hear that. Stay safe Amigo. Bug out if you have to. This storm'll work wonders for generator and propane sales.

"You betcha." They say that up way north dja know.

No blackouts yet here, but others on the same co-op have had it. Have been keeping heater at 64, most lights are off. Fireplace is going strong!

Anybody hear if PEC is having any trouble? I never cared for them when I was selling equipment, 'cause they were as crooked as a dog's hind leg, but, since buying this place, they've kept the lights on. (Mussolini's trains ran on time. grin)

My power has gone off @ least a dozen times today. Was off for ~13hrs the other day. That sucked. 603country, I can't fathom being w/out power in this bitter cold for 3 days!
Heater is on 62°. Outside it's 16° & windchill of 0.

What I find funny is Californicate's power grid cant handle the heat, yet one day of cold for the Great State of Texas and we can't handle it. Turning my thermo down to 80 from 85 lol444 jk dont get mad.

20% of the state's power generation dependent on wind energy will do that when they can't run on icy days.

Turned ours down...upstairs on 60, downstairs on 65 and 68. Got the gas fireplace running. Bad part is I gotta run the pool pump 24 hours a day to keep pipes from freezing. Hope we don't lose power.

Not a problem. All we have to do is load up some electricity onto trucks and ship it wherever it is needed. C'mon brah use ya head.

I’m not too familiar with rolling blackouts but I assume it is because of the power being drawn from the grid is more than what can be handled?

603 your in my prayers bud. Stay safe and take care.
