Thank you for the advice . I’m hoping to start working up loads next week . We have published load data on the web site for most suitable bullets. Enjoy

I finally got a chance to work up some loads this morning and found a sweet spot . Loaded to mag length Speer tnt 125 gr with 27.5 gr of cfe blk . .695 groups . No crimp . I added some crimp and it opened up to over an inch . Went back to no crimp and back to good grouping .

for those that may not know, watch rechambering rounds that don't have a crimp. I've had some poor luck with bullet setback on uncrimped loads. I've had to dig primers out of the chamber twice after firing rounds with noticeable setback.

Make sure you test if you switch lots of CFE BLK, as I have found some noticeable velocity shifts with different lots.

I've had to dig primers out of the chamber twice after firing rounds with noticeable setback. I suggest you check the diameter of your expander ball if your seeing bullet set-back. It needs to be .305" for a good tight bullet/neck tension. I've ran into several expander balls in various calibers that I've had to turn down to get good neck tension. Also as SD Turner noted, there is considerable difference between powder lots, I've seen as much a .4gr difference from lot to lot. The slow lots are a bitch due to the powder fill. There is no substitute for a chronograph and I never try to duplicate loads by powder charge, only by velocity. Speaking of chronographs, keep in mind that a Labradar will always give 20fps or so more velocity than a conventional sky screen chrono due to the fact you getting actual "muzzle" velocity, not the velocity 10-15ft down range.

My original goal with the 300 HAM'R was to equal the time proven .30-30 out of a AR15 platform. 150gr 300 HAM'R 2293fps, 150gr .30-30 2269fps when shot from the same barrel length.
As a final note, factory ammo published velocities don't always reflect the velocity you will get from commonly used barrel lengths. SAAMI has 3 different "standard" barrel lengths 16", 20" and 24". The published velocity for older calibers like the .30-30 are from 24" barrels, not from the more common 20" that most .30-30s have. SAAMI standardized both the .300 BLK and 300 HAM'R with a 16" barrel.

These weren't reloads.
It's not stone casting at any manufacturer.
Setback is a issue everyone should be aware of if they're running an autoloading firearm that they are regularly clearing and rechambering the top round of the mag.

Those numbers are awesome! But I'm a little confused, so are they reloads or WC 300 HAM'R offerings? If they're what ya'll are loading up at WC, than that pretty much drives the nail further in the coffin for those cartridges (not counting 300blk subs).

Where do you 2 gentlemen think WILSON COMBAT COMPANY located in northwest Arkansas got their loads from???? The Gentleman publishing these loads does not live or work in NW Arkansas but does have a Research Facility located in Arkansas. Furthermore He is perfectionist and certainly IS NOT going to publish unsafe or hot loads. BTW the Gentleman with the screen name of WILSON COMBAT on this forum is the actual OWNER of the company referred to as WILSON COMBAT!!

I wanted to get the thoughts for starting 300 HAM'R loads using converted 5.56 brass. I'm using LEE dies and LC brass. Also what should my expectations be for accuracy for these first converted loads? It is my understanding that after the brass is fire formed I can use full loads following WC load data.

After a disappointing deer season my dad and I finally got to drop the Ham'r on some hogs. We were able to put six on the ground. Two with his 130 gr. Hot-Cor's and four with my 135 gr. FTX's. All were dead on the spot except for one that ran about 15 yards. Two happy customers with a freezer full of ground pork! My dad's big stinky boar: My first pig with the Ham'r: Friend came to check on him: Bad idea: I've just started to work up my LC converted loads so I don't have any accuracy data. I've got 125 TNT'S running just under 2500 fps our of my 18". Is anyone running these in their 11.3"? I can't mount my Magnetospeed on the 11.3" without taking the handguard off. I'm hoping to get around 2300 fps out of them which is ALMOST 16" 123 gr. 7.62x39 speeds.
God bless.

You can expect the same accuracy before fire forming as after. You're correct, you will gain a little powder capacity after fire forming and thus be able to use these cases for full charge loads. I did all the early development of the HAM'R with converted LC cases. The powder capacity of the Sig mfg cases is almost identical to the fire formed LC cases. You should also get good case life from the LC cases too as long as you don't excessively set the shoulder back. I always size my cases to minimum headspace since the case is thin enough to easily "crush fit" to chamber.

I believe the one listed on Speer's website is highly exaggerated. I just ran a calc at .42 and out of the 8-inch this round is right at 1000 ft-lbs at 150 yards.

I think several of the Speer BCs are very optimistic That moves the 1000 ft-lb mark back to 125 yards but still freakin' awesome for an 8-inch barrel in AR platform. For comparison, what I would consider the very best military 5.56 ammo, Black Hills 77gr TMK is 1100 ft-lbs at the muzzle of a 16" barrel! Still think instead of the Military going for a whole new 6.8 round, they should have just gone with 300 HAM'R.

Thank you Bill for the quick reply. What do you recommend as a good and safe starting or max load for converted brass? I was never impressed with 300 BO and never understood the draw to that caliber. 300 HAM'R is just amazing and with the data on the shorter barrels makes me want to build another for home defense or a truck gun. I wanted to get the thoughts for starting 300 HAM'R loads using converted 5.56 brass. I'm using LEE dies and LC brass. I remember way earlier in this thread I wanted to get a 8" HAM'R barrel and do a comparison between the HAM'R and Blackout on shooter guns. Back then there wasn't much data and was told they're pretty much identical at the shorter barrel lengths. What changed? Different powder choice? Or just not enough data in the beginning? Those are some great numbers and might make me jump ship from BO to HAM'R. Just put my order in for one of your 308 Barrels, now I need to grab me a HAM'R barrel it looks like.

with the data on the shorter barrels makes me want to build another for home defense or a truck gun . We have talked about hogs and deer, but really have not brought out how well the 300 HAM'R fills my need for a home defense weapon. I can only hunt deer during our three week gun season and my hog hunting is limited to my trips to Texas, but with living in the "country", I find the 300 HAM'R an excellence choice for a defensive rifle. Just put my order in for one of your 308 Barrels, now I need to grab me a HAM'R barrel it looks like. This is a comment I love! There is no rule that you can't shoot more than one cartridge!

The 8" 300 HAM'R 135FTX was 62fps faster than the 16" .300 BLK, just sayin ......
I must have missed this. 8" Hammer gives notably better performance than a Blackout across the board. My Hornady 110 SP load averages 2375 from my 8" barrel.

Very nice I have a bunch of 110VMax Bullets lying around too. What would be a good powder to use with the 110’s in a 8” barrel?

Hey guys. Noob here. I’m looking into purchasing a HAM’R 11” barrel and swapping it into an ar pistol. Any AR pistol with a carbine length gas system should be plug n play, right? I’ve watched the video on the conversion process, just wanna make sure I didn’t miss anything.
Thanks
