Last night at 545 or so I was in Ft Worth Cabelas when a manager walked out w a cart full of ammo
Right in front of me, I asked him about it and he said it wasn’t for sale unless you buy a gun
I said when did that start and he said yesterday
I asked if I buy a gun, how much ammo could I buy and he said just 1 box
Idk guys, swear that’s what happened
It was new to me🤷🏻♂️

I have seen that policy bite a Cabela's store in the past when it was Cabela's instead of owned by BassPro. Gun counter guys were putting back ammo to be there for gun sales but as long as the store had ammo in each caliber they would not get shipments when the warehouses got ammo because they were not out of ammo in those calibers since it was put back and not being sold.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch

Managers don’t push ammo carts ... they get employees to do that
Bad managers ....... well yeah they push ammo carts and stock shelves
Sounds like you got bad info - a policy such as described by a free market big box store wouldn’t be smart business
Case in point your not apt to return based on this exchange - right ?
And what’s he stocking the shelves for ? The minute he goes to the break room the customers are going to wipe it clean (the customers not buying rifles)

He wasn’t stocking the shelf btw
He came out of a room over by the pop up blinds while I was there with a cart loaded...top to bottom, front to back
He took that cart of ammo to where the pistols are kept and started stacking it up on the glass top (where they sale pistols)
There had to of been 1000 boxes of various
He had 100 plus stacked on that glass counter top when it saw him for the second time

Idk what the deal is or if this guy made up this bs
But for sure he wouldn’t sell a box without a gun purchase
Another guy walked up and asked the same thing while I was there.
He got told the same

Could this be a sinister plot by Procraft to get us not to go to Cabelas anymore so he get bogart all the ammo for himself.

Contact the Corporate office. They might appreciate hearing of this new policy.

I remember this from the last time in 2008 or whatever year it was. Many places did the same thing because people supposedly wouldn't buy guns they couldn't buy ammo for etc.

The Polo shirts are from Cabelas Club Card sign-ups, each year and number of sign-ups has a different color. Managers shirts have an outdoor scene of their choice (quail, pheasant, bass, etc) and the Managers name above it.

Maybe he's a blood in a room full of crips... or a republican in a room full of democrats. Might explain why he was hoarding all the ammo

It was new to me🤷🏻♂️ They do the same thing at Bass Pro in SATX. It is usually the premium self defense or hunting cartridges. That’s probably why we never see the premium stuff on the carts. The carts are usually plinking and general purpose cartridges. Very strange business model.

I have no problem if they want to keep a box per inventoried weapon in stock-as some posted, they likely can't sell the gun if they don't have any ammo to go with it.

I get off work at 3 pm
I will stop by the same store (North Ft Worth) on the way home and BUY a box of ammo (without buying a gun)
I’ll report back on my experience
I haven’t been a Secret Shopper in many years but I gotcha covered on this

I haven’t been a Secret Shopper in many years but I gotcha covered on this They had idk 200 boxes of 9mm Speer Gold Dot’s on the ammo isle for sale I see another worker, not manager guy. I asked him how come this 9mm is over here on the isle for sale but there’s 1000 boxes of more ammo behind the gun counter that you can’t buy unless you buy a gun He said and I’m not kidding...idk man I just work here At least he was honest
