Hey y’all coyote guys, is there a bounty for coyotes in Texas? I’ve tried to research the matter, but can’t find anything relevant as far as a state-wide bounty by searching google or the TPWD website. I’ve only seen that some counties have bounties, but even those searches lead to very little info. Is there a specific place I can find out more info on the TPWD website, or a local office I should try calling to get more info?

I know that there is a state-wide quarantine for rabies right now, so I figured there might be some incentive to round ‘em up.

We have some counties up here that pay $50 for a pair of ears.

Good deal, I’ll call them up and find out... With the scarcity of ammo these days, I’m trying to find a little more motivation to spend my supply on something other than steel 👍🏼👌🏼

Counties that have bounties are usually sponsored by the local cattleman’s & sheep raisers association.
The counties that I am aware of have very few coyotes and they want to keep it that way.
Also the land you shoot the coyotes on has to be a member to get the money.
I know because I have gotten money from Llano county when I called in and shot a coyote and the landowner said that was the first coyote he had seen in years but insisted I call the county and get the money.

Man, this brings back some memories! I haven't hunted coyotes for bounty since the 70's. Can't recall the counties, but one paid for the ears and the other paid for the tails. I'd save up enough of each to make it worth the drive and then go cash'em in. I did have a solid gig from '77 to '80 working for a turkey farm behind our place. Bob Fletcher paid me $10 a night plus $1.00/head. Coyotes were hell on his tom sheds. He had an old beater 4wd he let me drive and every night I'd walk back there and there'd be a .22 Magnum and a brick of ammo on the seat. I'd hang the coyotes on the fence next to the entrance gate so he could count them and know what to pay me. He'd pull them down and toss them in the incinerator.

I was in his office getting my pay one morning when a couple of women came in. PETA types but before PETA was a thing. They asked Mr. Fletcher if he was the one killing all the coyotes they saw hanging on the fence. He said, "No ma'am, but the boy there is doing a helluva' job!". They tried to convince him to stop killing coyotes. I just sat there drinking my chocolate milk. He told them, "Tell ya' what. Pay me $50 for every bird they kill and I'll stop killing coyotes.". They replied that they weren't funded and couldn't possibly afford to do that. He reached into his desk drawer and handed me a fresh brick of .22 Magnum and said, "Keep killing 'em boy."

I heard tell that Van Zandt county was going to start a bounty again. I was told they were going to pay 5.00 for a tail. I have no interest in this, but I guess some guys might.

The county commissioners paid the bounty when i was a kid in the 70s. Got $5 bucks for a pair of ears.
