My first deer I shot with a bow was a doe behind my house (I live on a farm) here in Tomball. I was nervous and shot really low. Luckily, she severely jumped the string and when she lunged down to spring up, she lowered he body right into my arrow and clipped her lower chest cavity. At the time I thought I missed. I went home to wait a while before I looked and told my buddy. We trailed her 100 yards south then she did a 180 and 100 yards back. She was just 10 feet from where I shot her.

I shot at a buck one icy morning at 125 yards and the BTHP bullet exploded mid flight. Heard the fragments fly through the brush. Called Hornady and they said it happens.
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

Several years ago I was in a tree stand and had a decent 7 show up about 120-130 yards away...too far to be comfortable with a neck shot. Finally turned broadside and I take a heart shot. He takes off and he was basically a dead deer running (his heart was mush when I gutted him). He ran right smack into a tree and one whole side of his antlers broke off and flew about 20 yards. When I skinned him I found that he had slammed into the tree so hard that it broke its back in two places. I call him the matador buck. I glued the antler back so I could mount the horns.

No prayer in school....What's next, no thinking in church? It's not just about pie in the sky when you die. It's also about steak on your plate while you wait!

Shot a doe smack in the head once with 7mm mag. Her head was down eating corn. The best I could tell the bullet exited and exploded a rock and it went up under the offside front shoulder and sliced to all the way up like you were taking it off to bone it off. The only thing left holding that shoulder on was 3-4" of skin.
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Shot a doe once and she ran about ten yards and right up a tree. She got up off the ground all the way before falling back down.
I also shot a buck with my .44 once and the bullet went between the ribs on both sides. He shook his head and ducked under the pen wire, walked about 20 feet, did a slow circle and fell, all the while shooting a stream of blood out about 6 feet. He just knew something didn't feel right.

Shot a doe at 100yds using a 90gr hornady SST out of a .243. Bullet hit a rib behind the shoulder and ricochet down into the body and exited by the far hip. Doe continued to feed for about a min before toppling over

My Dad had borrowed my old .243. Why, I can't remember, but it's not important. He shot a doe mid morning. Walked up to her and poked her with the barrel. Yep, she's dead. He turned around to relieve himself in a nearby tree. When he was done, he turned back around and the doe was gone. No blood. Looked for an hour, and never found a drop of blood anywhere.

Friend shot a nice 10 point once, 130 yds with his 25-06. Thing goes down. As friend is walking toward it awhile later, it jumps up and runs about 100 yds, lays down again. Buddy waits awhile longer, approaches again. Same thing. Buck jumps up, runs 100 yds and lays down. Decent blood pool at each spot. This goes on 3-4 more times until dark. After several more hours of searching, nothing. Guy figures deer is dead, since it kept laying down and lots of blood. Nope. 3 weeks later, there he is on the camera again. Scars on both sides of him, just above the shoulder and a little back. He never saw that buck the rest of the season. He did however shoot it again the following year. This time for good. Hangs in his office now. He claims it was bigger the 2nd time.

I shot a doe with the old mosin 7.62x54r. I hit her in the neck and she just stood there locked up. I thought I missed. After 5 minutes went by and she never even twitched I decided to spook her. If i missed the gun must be off so I wasn't going to shoot again. I got to the bottom step and her head turned then a big glob of blood fell from her neck to the ground. She still didn't try to run just moved her head. By the time I covered the 68 yards she toppled over stiff legged and didn't move any more. There was a sizable exit wound. I've never seen anything like it.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Not a deer but pig story. I was hunting from elevated tripod & 75 yards from pig & he would never turn broadside so I decided to shoot him in the forehead (he was facing me). Using a 243 WSSM, I aimed right at his forehead & at the shot it should like someone broke a 2/4 over his head. He stumbled a couple steps back, wobbled, shook his head & ran down a trail. Me & several buddies looked for 30 minutes but found no blood. My theory is that the thick plate on his forehead caused the bullet to ricochet almost like it does on water. Never found pig but I gave his a headache.

One year I shot a spike only about 70yrds quartering away, with .243 TTSX handloads. He circled about 30 yards then dropped. When I gutted him, I wanted to save and cook-up some of the heart at camp - but there was nothing left of the heart! - cavity there was fill with nothing but bloody pulp!

Pig story. Driving around a buddies place and pull up on a pack of hogs about 75 yards away. I take several shots with the .223 AR-15 and see 2 hogs drop as the others continue to run directly away from me.. figuring I miss the rest as they run under a fence an behind a small washout area. We pull through the gate and drive over just to check. There's another hog down. We take that one and the other smaller one back to clean for the evening.
2nd one was shot in the side - on the run shot, not the best placement but its a hog.
3rd one - no sign of entry... no blood anywhere, start skinning it and I had literally shot it up the a$$. The entry hole was within cm's of the a$$hole. We found the slug about half way up the body stuck in a rib.
What a [censored] way to die.
