I wouldn’t take the shot, all it takes is 1 “I don’t think it will” moment to kill someone and ruining someone’s life as well as yours. If you don’t know for a fact your bullets not going anywhere unsafe you shouldn’t pull the trigger period. Guys do it all the time though, furry critters make usually rational thinking people to do some ignorant stuff. I’m no saint myself, guilty of doing it in my younger days but age brings wisdom, I think

There are several hundred more yards of open pasture then brush on the other side of my fence with nothing.

Im going to be shooting a 54 caliber 315 grain maxi-ball out of an 18 inch barrel carbine hawkin replica. Its ballistic coefficient is non existent and I can only guess it would be LUCKY to be going 1200 fps at the muzzle.
I do not believe that it would leave the property anyway, but I will be taking a shot where the other side of the fence is clear also. Well hell man....you should just pick up a rock and lob it at em! lol I used to have an old 45 cal muzzle loader and I loved hunting with it. I killed several deer, turkeys, hogs, and a couple varmints with it. It was damn accurate out to about 100-125 yards. Good luck.
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Take the shot. It shouldn't travel off the property.

I was answering the original question. I've never shot a muzzle loader ...on edit, I guess I need some more coffee. Apparently, I completely read the original question wrong too lol.

I do not believe that it would leave the property anyway, but I will be taking a shot where the other side of the fence is clear also. You might be surprised at velocity. Let's just look at the 45/70. Originally, a 405 gr bullet loaded with 70 gr of black powder moving at 1350 fps. I have generally loaded BP rifles with 100 gr of black powder. If you put 100 gr of BP under a 315 gr maxi-ball, you might be getting up in the 1600fps range.

I would assume that the muzzleloader generates substantially less pressure than the 45-70 as the bullet is smaller than the bore. Im loading it with 90 grains of loose Pyrodex.

I also read the original post completely wrong. I swore I read something about asking if you would shoot a deer at 500 yards on flat ground with a fence a ways behind it. Don’t ask. Long day. My reading comprehension was way off the charts today.

I had to assume where the deer was located...assuming it was 500 with the fence behind the deer being worse case. I wouldn't shoot....assuming the deer was 50 yd.s and the blind was a high blind and the shot was missed..no problem the bullet would be stopped ..So each hunter has to look at his situation at the time and has to consider is it a safe shot.

I'd take the shot with a muzzleloader or with a rifle as long as ground was level and I wasn't shooting up. If you're elevated then it's even more of a no brainer.
I am always concerned about my shot path. Before Jason kills me on my terminology, I use that word specifically because it applies to anything I'm firing. Where I typically have the most problems is dove hunting -- legally you're pellets can't property lines or go on/across a road. A little peppering from 60 yds away isn't going to hurt anyone or anything, but it might still get you a ticket.

First, I think you'll be fine with the muzzle loader if you shoot sensibly. That said, if there's any doubt, the solution is very simple: raise your shooting platform. If you shoot from an elevated platform, you'll be shooting down into the dirt. If I had to pick any one safety regulation for highly populated areas it would be to require people to shoot from an elevated platform to force all shots downward, into the dirt. Obviously, the best safety device is between your ears, and no system is foolproof for a sufficiently talented fool, but I think shooting from an elevated platform is a simple 80% solution.

Depends on the round, POA, and the ground cover.
For what it's worth, I'd assume that round will cross the fence line, unless you hit the deer, with a good hunting round.
I've seen .308 match rounds skip at 300 and tumble to earth a mile a later. My .28 Nosler rolled a 'yote at 1926 yards with a Berger target round. Bullet never expanded and the dust cloud suggested it kept right on truckin'.
