A new personal best for my ranch hand and his pawnshop .270 Remington 770. The previous owner probably sold it because he could not get it zeroed. Shims made from a Keystone Light can elevated the front scope base enough to solve the problem. 402 yards per Mapulator from the hay barn in the background.
Van Zandt Co. Hit him with an #8,000 pound Ram doing 55mph. He was prowling around in he road trying to sneak up on some baby goats, never saw the truck coming.

17 Fannin County. Took my nephew calling Friday afternoon. Had 2 run in quick but he shot at one running and missed. Had another come in after they ran off from another direction. He sat down in the cedars and barked and growled at call and decoy seemed like five minutes but we couldnt see him Finally he eased out Now he is no longer with us after my 22-250 barked back

#18 Coleman County. My first coyote. Took my uncle out hog hunting - spotted some hogs on the cellular game cam - but they wandered off before he could get a shot. Waited in the blind for 10 minutes and saw a coyote limping through the pasture. Clearly had a broken leg. Popped it at about 250 yards away using thermal and 6.5 grendel.
Hate to admit my first coyote was handicapped, but at least I finally got one

#19 The lazy method of hunting! I've set out a bait pile of food scraps exactly 100 yards from a bathroom window. I've got a game camera and battery operated driveway alarm set up. When ever an animal comes by a song plays in the house. Last night I thought I was out of luck as the first visitor to come by was a black bear at about 8:30 pm. I just knew that would be all for the night, but then the alarm went off at 2:30 AM. My second black coyote and my 23 rd shot from my bathroom.
Bravo 18" Precision rifle with a PVS-14 and 3x magnifier. The forward grip has an IR laser and IR illuminator.

I would say "melanism." The powers-to-be claim the coyotes in NC are hybrids. Instead of just coming east, ours are supposed to have gone from the West to the North-East and then dropped down to the South-East. In the process, they crossed with the Red Wolf. But at the same time, there are a lot of people that believe the Red Wolf is from an earlier cross between the Gray Wolf and coyotes?????? The comical thing is the Feds have been trying to re-introduce the Red Wolf to NC. As soon as they stray the National Forest, Bubba has been popping them off and then bragging about the size of that "coyote" he shot last night. The basic consensus was that NC told the Federal Wildlife that if you don't want them shot, come and get them! The first "black" coyote I shot was about 1 1/2 years ago.
The one I got last night (male) was traveling with another coyote with a standard coloration.

1 Rains county. Not much, but felt like I needed to join in on the fun.
One is better than none. Think of the fawns and game birds that you've saved that this woods punk might have eaten over time Thanks for doing your part.

Robertson county, couple of weeks ago. One of three shot that week. This one shot from the blind, the others from the tractor. Didn't get pictures of the others so we'll just count this one. .308 Remington 700, about 80 yards.

October 6, Ginger's first coyote. She spotted it from the house as it was approaching a dead calf. A hound of uncertain pedigree, she could be a Mountain Cur or Tennessee Treeing Brindle. At any rate, she's a rescue. About a year ago, she rescued me. 320 yards per Mapulator App.
October 9, trotting between cows, 130 yards.
October 17, this young coyote was eviscerated by the Winchester Model 70, 220 Swift Hornady Varmint Express 55 gr V-MAX that was used for all these noble predators. Which is why the photograph is of her head only. 260 yards.
Later the same day, momma coyote and a sibling came looking for her. Momma dropped at 320 yards.
If I figured this right these four in Houston County would bring the count up to 68.
