Finally got my first buck Tuesday morning. 5 8 points came to the feeder within the first hour of light and this one came home with me. I hunted hard all year long and didn't want to chance waiting on the big boy I had been after the whole year. What is your opinon of age and score?

Thanks stxranchman! Not too concerned about it, just curious being somewhat new to deer hunting. My buddy does taxidermy as a side hustle and we were boiling the head over beers and were looking at the teeth that were nearly non existent.

Age and score won't really matter on your second & third bucks either. Great "catch".

Same as the rest on it being your first buck you dont need to worry much about age score. And if you do find out an age and score you dont need to let it change how you feel about him. When I score deer for people I always ask them if they are excited and happy with the buck and then assure them that after they know score it will still be the same buck so dont let a lower score change how you feel. Congratulations.

Funny that nobody will answer his question. And I understand why nobody has. 1st, congrats on a damn fine first buck! I'm no expert on age or score, but he definitely looks mature to me. I'd put him around 120 comparing him to some of the deer that I know the score of.

Nice first deer! Just remember, it's not golf. Score really should not be a big deal to you. I shot my first buck when I was 17. It was nothing to write home about but the excitement it brought me is seared into my memory still at the age of 40 and means more to me than many of the much larger deer I have shot since. To me, that feeling is what counts. When that rush is gone I will quit hunting. Guess I'm just trying to say you shouldn't get wrapped up in numbers and lose sight of the bigger picture. Again, nice buck and congrats! Welcome to your new obsession!

Age looks mature, 5+ and score not a real concern but probably 1 teens if I were to estimate
