Very mature animal. I think he will score 155 to 165. I dont think he will be any larger next year. If you like him, take him.

I would call 6.5-7.5 and at least upper 150s. Won’t hurt to let him roll one more if he’s not what you want. Not sure why so many think he won’t get better with more age. We are at a 7.5 minimum on ours

We are at a 7.5 minimum on ours BP, I dont know your situation but having a program where you let bucks get to 7 is very very rare. Im not saying its not a good idea, but im pretty sure its done on a very few places compared to the whole. It would almost have to have a high degree of supplemental feed, be large or have great neighbors, have good predator control and/or be high fenced. I think its awesome if yall can do that but I dont think its practical for most situations.

Letting bucks walk till 7or older is common practice on all most all well managed LF or HF ranches in South Texas. I was doing that on large HF ranch in the Hill Country in the early 90's. It was well documented that bucks in South Texas usually score their best at 7. Right buck in the right year with the right rainfall can produce really great antler growth years. '92 is a prime example of that in Texas with the rainfall we had. It happened again in the late 90's. Been several years like that since then with all of the people letting bucks get more age and better management.

I was referring to all of Texas leases however I was not aware that it was "common practice on all most all well managed LF or HF ranches in STx". When STx talks, I listen.

I really appreciate the feedback from everyone. We decided to give this one another year and see what happens. This deer will be safe for another year. He is hanging out in the middle of our 5,000 acre low fence ranch in Webb County. All trophy bucks harvested must be 7 years or older and approved by the biologist.

Im assuming yall have a great place so even though most would shoot him, he may just be subpar for yall. Maybe another way to ask that would be to ask if you would pass him if he was 10" bigger, or 20" bigger? Also, just curious and not saying anything wrong, but does the biologist have to approve every buck thats killed? I ask a lot of questions on here and that shouldnt imply im "judging" but I really am trying to learn from others.
