Saw a couple about 10 years back. An hour or two SE of you. I havent been around bears, but this is the only wild animal ive been around that I felt like he would just as soon come at me as away from me. Tough dude

How do they show their aggression? Do they snarl at you or hiss? Do they kind of move right at you?? Do they bare their teeth? Just asking because I've never seen one in the wild.

Good question and Im not sure I can answer. Goes under "cant describe it but you know when you see it." Actually I think it was mostly that he just didnt run off. I kept moving around to get better pics and he just kept squaring up to me instead of going away. Maybe a look in his eye like Jack Elam.

I hunted a friends ranch just south of Winchell and we had a badger den near one blind. Neat animals. Western parts of hill country have some animals usually only seen up north.

I ran across a sow and her cubs several yrs ago. Didn't know what they were and started following them through some tall grass. They were probably 15 - 20' ahead of me. Finally came to a clearing and she spotted me. Hackles up, hissing, teeth bared, and long claws tearing up the ground. Let me know she wasn't backing down. I DID! Got out the he!! there as quick as I could. Got back to the station and told my buddy what had happened. He laughed his arse off telling me about badgers.

Two on my picture list that I just haven't been able to get yet, a good picture of a Badger and a Bob Cat.

That is cool. Seen exactly one in the wild. It was probably 30 years ago in Mason County. Did you see if he would let you pet him?

I have seen a few badgers in Mason and Menard counties. If you snare one be prepared to get a shovel and spend a while repairing the destruction. I have one guarding my gun safe.

I have one guarding my gun safe. He was the victim of a snare that was intended for coyotes, so he got memorialized properly.

Really cool animals and great pics pitchfork! I used to love seeing them coming down a sendero down south. Reminded me of a rug blowing in a breeze 8" off the ground.
I've got one at my place that comes through. I've only gotten game cam pics of him a couple times but get fresh holes dug at least 3-4 times a year. If we see him he will go up on my mesquite mantle above the wood stove. I've always wanted one live mounted.
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I can tell you from experience out west that a bird dog vs badger, the badger has won every time.

I have only seen one on the county road our place is on late at night. My dad got to watch one for several minutes under his tripod a few years ago. He took a picture of it, but he has an old flip phone so it was mostly a blur.
