Is that a special flash you used on the pic. I never take pics of deer at night and I really have no idea how to do it. My flash either doesnt work or I dont know how to use it(likely). No, I don't like the built in flash on most cameras so I just use the truck headlights to light up the subject. I usually pull the deer 20ish yards from the truck so the lights don't wash out the color. The second picture was taken with just my headlamp shining on the back of the horns. Here's the color version.
