Re: second shot....totally agree with you. A buck like this deserves two things, a quick death, and to not get back up. You solved both those problems with the quick follow up. Excellent work

I know of at least 4 occasions where the lack of a follow up shot cost or almost cost a Trophy. One is captured on video by a friend. He shoots and the buck drops. After a few seconds he starts crawling away on front legs only and then jumps up and is seen again the next year. In the video as the buck starts crawling you can hear the hunter mumbling as he FINALLY jacks another round in the chamber, too late. I never even think about it but I always chamber another round right after the shot, thought everyone did but nope. Maybe I learned that by watching John Wayne work that lever gun against Indians. Maybe thats too much information but a buck like this deserves getting bumped back up to the top.
