As a matter of fact I did give him one more year...that was last year to this year... grin
He went from this 8pt in 2019 to a 5x5 with one NT point this year in 2020.

Thanks everyone. cheers
I liked the deer and his was one of two bucks I had targeted when the archery season opened up. I knew he was the older of the two and he was more visible than the other buck..so the decision was easy when he was inside 20 yards from me that afternoon. He is my second largest bow kill and my largest buck off of my place I live on with any weapon. So I was very excited and happy when I got a chance at him.

I said 135-140. Not a bad guess. Good buck especially with a bow! Congrats!

I’m sure it’s patented as a “Break-Free” fence though whistle

BOBO, I'm relatively sure his last name is polish though.

Y'all don't be jealous now. God could not let everyone be smart and polish like some of us!

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Great home grown buck!

Great write up and a great buck!

What did you have him at as far as age? Figure 5-6 based on your progression pics, but did you think older?

As an aside, I added up my numbers and was gonna say 145 but saw you had posted the numbers before I got to this. When I read your blurb about your typical buck measurements I thought “well I am way off” but then saw your score and thought different. What a nice jump he made from last year to this too. Congrats!

Having 23 inch main beams and 5 inch brows definitely helps! I came up with 137-139 before I read the through the thread, but I was only giving him 21 inch beams and a 16 inch spread. It's always great when you underestimate them.

Congrats on your best home grown buck to date.

I always underscore deer for that reason so that they grow on the ground.
Thanks again everyone. cheers

I had him at 5 last year based on pics and seeing him in person a lot. He was one of the more dominant bucks around most of the time. There was 3 more bucks that were more aggressive than him and all but one was the same age as him last year...I thought. One was older and is still here this year and shows his age much better. I had him at 6 this year but tooth wear was more of a 5 yr old but on protein for at least 3 yrs if not more...I know to add 1 yr to the age on bucks on protein.
