I still have application received on Archery Exotic - Garner SP and Exotic - Devils River SNA - Del Norte Unit

Archery Exotic doesn't draw until October 15th. Devils River still at application received.

Ah, well that would be a good reason for it show as application received still then LOL... It's the only draw right between "Archery Deer" and "Archery Mule Deer" on my list so it stuck out as being the only one on that part of the list that doesn't say Pending 2nd Draw

Uh mine is still showing application received for Devils River, I think they had a glitch!

I wish it would just finish so I can quit holding out hope.

Got the email from tpwd, and purchased my permit, same for the others in my application. Now when I check status I'm showing pending second for pd canyon and powderhorn, won for the devils river.

Well looks like another round I didn’t get anything on. Not surprised with the new format. I only have 3 preference points in everything.

Yeah, looks like I'm out for this round as well - as I don't have high hopes for winning that Devil's River one ... but hell, it's just getting started I got like 100 applications or so total in LOL... The current "Pending 2nd Draw" ones make up a small number of my applications

I had 12 as well going into this year and finally got drawn.

Man I really regretting putting in for the trinity river hunts last year and setting my preference points back to zero on National Refuge General Deer. I have to start thinking more strategically on these hunts.

Looks like another year, another round of donations for myself - no draws. On the bright side, will be in the double digit LP's next year - keep on keepin' on!

Yeah Trinity River was disappointing...I had high expectations for that place.... I did apply again this year, adjusting my expectations to taking hogs as the place was overrun by them. Was impossible to know Trinity River would be a dud for deer though ... pretty much the very little available information from people online and directly from the GWs there claimed it was a good deer hunting area.

In any case, it will be interesting to see if the results this year are the same (assuming a draw for the area).

Ya I talked to the parks folks there and they talked it up. I talked to some locals and they said there was good hunting in the area, but it seems like the hogs have run a lot of the deer out. I did see one deer, but I walked my entire unit the last day and couldn’t find any substantial deer sign. A couple of tracks. No one I talked to harvested a deer. The trinity river hunts are easy to win comparatively speaking. 300 entries and 30 spots available. There is great hunting at the other national refuge locations. I don’t want to keep resetting my preference points to zero and miss out on those awesome hunts due to trinity river. If they continue to cube the points it’s going to require becoming more selective on what you put in on if you want a good hunt. I wasn’t worried about that when someone had 20 points and I had 4. The odds are in there favor but not by a substantial amount. Now it’s 64 vs 8000 for the same scenario.

Totally pulling this from the top of my head, so I could be wrong... but I thought the 2nd draws occurred the day after the permit deadline which ended up being like 10 days after the drawing.
