El Arroyo in Austin, known for their sign as much as their food.

Freshest tortilla chips anywhere. Would burn your hand if you grabbed one right when they out them down. I used to love to take guests there. When they needed to use the RR, I would say, go out the front door, turn right and go to the large oak tree.

Antlers Inn, used to be way out in the sticks near San Antone, may have just been Antlers Steakhouse. Outdoor dining under huge moss covered oak trees

Yes, was on 281 just north of 46, now about a mile east of 281 on 46. It is all town now, 3-4 traffic lights and businesses everywhere. I have a friend that lives off 46 on Park Rd 31 going to the state park, he said the yankees and Cali. people make it hard to get in unless you go early. Have eaten a few times at each location.

Been to Joe T's many times. Remember when you came in you walked through the kitchen? They have since changed that.

Ding Ding!!! This was my absolute favorite place to go eat anywhere. We went there all the time when I was at SWT in San Marcos. We went there not long ago, and it had changed like it was a tourist spot now. But the BYOB and country singers on stage were great. The food was the best I'd ever had, and all you can eat. Another top place is Jorg's (link to Jorg's ) in downtown Plano. 1 liter mugs with German and Austrian beer. Some of the best Austrian food. And beer garden in back, when the weather is good.

Will have to try Jorg's, use to go to the Bavarian grill in Plano. It has been probably 15 years since I went to Salt Licks in Driftwood and it was dayum good.

Chad, a friend told me there was a place in San Marcos that was quite iconic. Blowdown, Showdown or something like that?

Use to road trip to Rays in Kingsbury from San Marcos many times.....Mrs Ray knew her mexican food...yum enchiladas In San Marcos there was a little taco joint, Pic a Taco, that had maybe 5-6 tables. It was pretty good, then they expanded to about double that, that was in the late 60's early 70's.

Seguin used to have a pretty good little Mexican Restaurant without a sign bearing a name. We referred to it as Open and Closed.
Jays' Mini-Mart in West End of NB had a tree going through the roof. There were no cats or pigeons nearby, but the food was pretty darn good. We called it, "El Shoot & Run".

The one time I went a few years ago I thought it was overrated. I think people look paste the bbq for the all you can eat option and the byob. I however do like the Lauren sauce and that's it.

Taco Sensations right outside the gate when I was stationed at Randolph AFB. I used to go pick up up a ton of breakfast tacos for like $30 the would feed most of my unit. It’s long gone now.
