We just raised a blind and are looking for ways to anchor it in a high wind area at times. It is a 4x6 and we know it already needs cross braces on the legs. We need to keep it from blowing over in a high wind. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Use the tie down anchors used on double wides.

How high did you raise it? I have a 4x6 on just 3 foot legs and I drove 2 tposts on opposite sides and screwed through them to the blind. Has never moved in 3 years.

I have 2 4x6 blinds on 4ft bases. One I screwed eye bolts in each top corner and ran braided wire to t-posts. Other I just screwed the eye bolts in the bottom of the stand and attached to t-posts with wire. Neither have moved.

When you put up a new blind or feeder look for a big bush to put it over. Cut the bush down to a stump. Make a cable harness from the 4 inside corners or even easier, install a 2" eye-bolt through the middle of blind floor. Use chains and/or cables to pull down tight to stump using a heavy duty turnbuckle. On feeders, even a small bush has amazing hold down strength.

I'm in a windy area. We use the t post on all four corners, and as pertnear said, find a mesquite and anchoring down on that works well. A friend brought a elevated blind out one time to our place. I asked him about anchoring it down. He looked at me like I was some kind of idiot explaining to me that as heavy as it was, it wasn't going anywhere. Next time we were out we couldn't find his blind. Storm had blown through and his blind was about 40 yards in a gully. He hunted on the ground that season.

I have a 6x6 blind raised 12' which I hold down with 3 earth anchors I bought at Ace Hardware. I screwed/augered those things into the ground and run tie down straps to the base of the stand. Been there for 9 months, rock solid, no problem

I dont know how high your tower is or where it is located but we like them high and often times out on the point of a high ridge and we are in a windy area of the world. In our situation when you think you got it done its probably not good enough. I know Tpost work for some but in many situations it is not enough. We like to find a tree and tie off four ways. We use barbless wire and go up and back making a full loop. Then use rebar or something and twist it forever till its tight and the stiff wire will stay like that. You can also use that wire cable and turnbuckles which works great but more expensive. Tie down in the middle over a cutoff tree as others said works but I usually like to use a tree like that for camo so dont usually do that.

I have used variations of this in the past...one trailer house tiedown in the middle that is 36-48" deep, two tie downs on taller blinds, cattle tub with 6-8 sacks of sackrete. This one I did two trailer house tiedowns 30" deep and one cattle tub with 6 bags of sackrete on a 10' tower stand. I did this due to being close to the coast. My older blinds made it thru 100+ mph winds with this set up or similar. Blind is 5'x6' and catches a lot of wind from the north/northeast or east or south/southeast. I have used a 55 gallon drum filled with rocks and sackrete in tied to the center of the blind like this on setup in the hill country. Seen the metal tote cages filled with rocks tied to the center of a blind also.

I used tposts at all 4 corners + 4 tposts at all corners at a extreme angle with chain and turnbuckles hasn’t budged in 3 years

36 inch earth anchors holding down a 10 foot tower with a 5x7 blind on top. Stairs are secured via 2 t-post. It moved a foot last year due to high winds nearing 80mph.

IMO you just can't anchor it down enough. Have had blinds anchored for many many 20 plus years but a direct hit tornado ain't gonna save it

In rocky country this is the easiest. Have a 4x4 done like this and haven’t had issues in 40-50 mph wind gusts yet.

I don't like guide wires spiraling out from the footprint of my blinds. Center tie down is the way to go and can be easily supplemented with T-Post s at the corners.

Most of our blinds are 4x6 with a few 4x4's, and all are on 10' - 12' steel towers. All we do is drive a T-Post at each leg (deep) and double tie with wire goodentight. Works well for us in S Texas, haven't had a blind blow over in 25 + years. I've hunted in a few 20' - 25' towers and those we went the extra mile anchoring down (T-Posts/trailer anchors/turnbuckles).

I have tried every method.......t posts are better than nothing......but they will bend and come up it a strong enough wind......the best I've found are the screw in the ground for mobile homes and trailers.....you can get them at Tractor Supply for about 10.00 each.....they are worth the investment......

I've used some cross-drive rock anchors from Amazon that, I think, Cast recommended on here. I have one extra in the tool crib. 'Sliced open the box and looked at all the labels, but couldn't find a source name and address for you. 'Can't find them on Amazon now.

Yep I do recommend those, called rock anchors. There’s a place on Hwy 10 coming out of Euless across from Bell Helicopter that sells them. It’s a double wide equipment dealer.

Same as some others have said - I have a 4 x 8 blind on 10' legs and my method is to screw a 3' auger directly into the ground under the center of the blind with an eye bolt lagged into the frame. I then use as heavy duty tie down to firmly attach the two. If it loosens up, I simply ratchet a bit tighter. Usually replace the tie down every couple of years. 5 years in same spot with some wicked winds and it hasn't moved yet.

We are in rocky area, this is the best and easiest way.

Glad to see that old blind still going strong KR! Lotta critters taken from that blind over the years. I remember when my son was little, we would both sit in there on metal folding chairs. Those folks in Fredburg built some long lasting blinds.

Heck yea. It’s been great! Took my 3 year old for her first hunt with me in it. God it was hot that afternoon and we didn’t see anything but she stuck it out 3 hours with me. Lots of snacks and eventually the ipad came out but she still had a blast looking for deer that afternoon.
