The 'rona got me into a healthy liquid habit. 10 pounds later, I've decided there will be no more drinks on weekdays (well, Mon-Thurs) until dove season comes around again. 4 days in and 4 lbs dropped.
Stopping something, ANYTHING, is never a "just because". We may try to say we did it just because, but there is always a consideration in our heads that makes it happen. Lack of time, lack of energy, renewed focus, fear, concern, love, etc. I have heard that same thing a lot since this crap started.

I drank an 18 pack last night with no supper (hurricane party), feeling a little rough myself.
It's almost beer 30 though.... Yeah but that was Coors so equivalent to about 4 Shiners...

I quit drinking Sunday morning at 2AM. I had an old buddy from Odessa I used to play ball with in high school come into town to pick up a couple of bird dog pups. The neighbors were having a washer pitching tournament and we crashed their party. My buddy and I killed two cases of beer and half a handle of Vodka (Started early.) The neighbors also had some Jell-O shots of unknown liquor. We are not little guys but that was excessive. I haven’t stayed up that late in 20 years. For some reason I didn’t make it to church and felt no desire for a Sunday afternoon cold beer. I may stay on the wagon for a few days. That was not a good decision, but it sure was fun.

Haven't had a drink in 5 years and don't miss it a bit. I was just a social drinker but it would give me heartburn like you would not believe and with my family history of heart attacks, i wanna know when something is wrong and not just think it's heartburn...quit that along with my 25 year dipping addiction...was a good decision for me and my family!

my grandpa was an alcoholic, my daddy is a recovering alcoholic ( he's been completely sober for over 10 years ). I have drank since I was 15 or so years old, I've quit several times for a month or 2, even did a 4 month stint. I told myself in July I was quitting for awhile August 1 this year. Well a neighbor called and asked if I wanted in on a poker game so needless to say I drank one the 1st. The second I put it down. I'd drink an 18 pack a night EVERY night, but I got to the point I couldn't sleep at night without taking 2 benadryl and 2 mg of Melatonin after the 18 pack of beer. I struggle with depression and an addiction to alcohol, those are a bad combination. But since the 2nd I haven't had a drink and on the 3rd I decided to stop smoking cigarettes at the same time. I feel like a complete different person now. I didn't stop drinking for anyone but myself and like others have mentioned I can't drink just one, I have to drink all of them. I've said I would stay sober until at least my daughter's 21st birthday party and I may have a couple of beers. But I don't want to go back to drinking as much as before.
HWYMAN Congratulations on your sobriety. I know from watching my daddy do it, it's a hard road to hoe.
