Good job on picture. Seen my Dad grab one by the tail before it got under barn. He pulled it out and held it up by tail. It was about 3 foot long and tried to curl back up to strike Dad. Only got about 5/8th of the way up. I was about 6 year old and Scared me to death watching. We learned to live with them but we always made headless snake out of them. When dove or Quail hunting we always had some on the grill. Stringy but taste like chicken. Road runner loved to kill them by cutting their heads off with beaks. I have seen them circle a rattler just out of striking distance. When snake get tired they will jump on snake and dust will fly. Then they take it back to their nest to feed hatchlings. Watch this one: I have seen this also with rabbit and quail.
