I’m contemplating getting into boating. I’m going to join a boat club and once I know what type of boat I like; I’ll probably buy one next year. Most of the boating will take place in lakes in Texas and Oklahoma. What gun would be the most suitable on a boat? I can either take a gun that I already have (I’m considering a G26 which is my primary carry gun, a G35 or a Colt 6920 setup with light, red dot and backup iron sights), or buy a new gun like a shot gun (pump or semi auto, probably in marine type finish).

That would be the Glock then. I’m sure they make inflatable tube accessories for it….

Is a boat club a metroplex thing?
I like to have the Judge on the boat in the river.

Desert eagle in 50ae Haha….for some reason this reminded me of Choctaw Bingo by James McMurtry. Especially with the Desert Eagle in 50 cal and me going to Oklahoma for family vacation Lyrics: Strap them kids in Give 'em a little bit of vodka in a cherry coke We're going to Oklahoma to the family reunion for the first time in years etc...... Bob and Mae come up from little town Way down by lake Texoma where he coaches football They were two A champions now for two years running But he says they won't be this year no they won't be this year And he stopped off in Tushka at that "Pop's Knife and Gun" place Bought a SKS rifle and a couple a full cases of that steel core ammo With the berdan primers from some East bloc nation that no longer needs 'em And a Desert Eagle that's one great big ol' pistol I mean .50 caliber made by bad [censored] Hebrews And some surplus tracers for that old BAR of Slayton's Soon as it gets dark we're gonna have us a time We're gonna have us a time

If you feel the need to carry on your boat then you probably already carry in your truck. DONT leave the gun in your truck!!! Take it in the boat with you and that's all you need. No need for a AR or shotgun unless you are on one of the border lakes and feel a sense of greater threat. I have never run into pirates on local lakes but carry anyway. Don't over think it. What works in your truck, works in the boat.

What works in your truck, works in the boat. Have to agree. Unless the boat is a John Boat, and you're in a stock tank. Then the answer is a NEF 12 gauge, for cottonmouths. If you turn the boat over, you lost $100.

What works in your truck, works in the boat. I guess this makes sense. I never leave any guns in the car. The only time was this Monday when I put a loaded AR15 in the trunk because my wife was freaking out with all the rumors about the riots getting into the suburbs…..Makes no sense….It was a rumor! So I guess I can just keep the G26 on me and put it in a storage box in the boat. That’s a $650 gun (G26 Gen5 + Bold Ameriglo night sights). Now if the risk of losing the gun is real in a “boating accident” (I’m planning to be on Wake/Water Ski type of boat), I’d rather leave the G26 in the car and just get a $200 Turkish shotgun or a Taurus G2/3.

I highly suggest that whatever you decide on, keep it in a waterproof case that will float. I had a nice S&W that got dunked in a boat that got swamped. I soaked it in oil as fast as I could but I still never trusted it again.

can you even carry (cc) or otherwise on corp of engineer lakes and parks ? I know it was being talked about to make it legal not long ago Good point. Need to do more reading on this. I found this: https://www.uslawshield.com/top-5-things-to-know-before-carrying-at-a-lake-in-oklahoma/Section 4 says: Having a Firearm on a Boat—We know many of you like to go out on the water on a jet ski or boat. It’s important to understand how the laws can change when you’re out on the water, and what effect that has on carrying your firearm. Oklahoma law treats vessels/ watercraft differently than motor vehicles and allows you to carry a concealed firearm in a vessel/watercraft under your control only when you have a CCL. Unfortunately, boats and watercraft can lead to a complicated intersection between federal jurisdiction and different states’ laws. Rivers and lakes often separate two states, example, the Red River and Lake Texoma. Texas law, Oklahoma law and federal regulations apply. Federal regulations, specifically on lakes and waterways controlled by the Army Corps of Engineers, affect your lawful possession of a firearm. Check with an attorney before venturing far into unknown waters. Can't believe you need to check with an attorney to see if you can carry your gun on a boat! I guess that's the end of the so called "boating accidents".
