No, going to and from work are exempted from the curfew. Looting and throwing frozen water bottles at the police are not however.

What good is a curfew that's not enforced? This doesn't look like Texas.

Honest questions. How does a curfew like that work? Isn’t looting and such already against the law? if that’s the basis for determining a violation of curfew, then what’s the point in a curfew? How do you know the difference in someone going to work and someone violating curfew?

Someone driving on a roadway from one place to another, looks quite different than a person standing in a group of 200 other people, with frozen water bottles sticking out of their backpacks. It's tough to loot in a car also, that would be a talent I would want to see.

These folks aren't going to or from work. It's pretty obvious.

Of course. Is that how the law is written?

It’s a complete waste of time.

Adding a curfew to try and stop something that’s already illegal.

It is written that a person going to or from work is exempt from the ordinance. The ordinance is then applied with reasonableness, which is one of the most fundamental aspects of criminal law.

No it's not. You apparently have not had 200-300 people, many of which but you don't know which ones, have thrown bottles and rocks at you, and you have to babysit them all night long because their mere presence is not unlawful. With a curfew, it is.

Are they allowing y’all to use force to arrest 200 people for a class c ordinance violation?

Use of force is dictated by the actions of the arrested person, not from the level of offense.

I’m dumbfounded at the actual level of peace these protestors are using.

You don’t say? Your mere presence is a use of force. I’m sure 200 angry protesters will just turn around and put their hands behind their back.
Now again, are they allowing y’all to instanter 200+ people for class c ordinance violations?

I’m guessing not. Since these people weren’t arrested, it was a waste of time.

The folks last night were very violent and 50+ arrests were made. The folks tonight were non-violent, they had their say and are dispersing. The curfew is there if it is needed, but it hasn't been thus far. There is a difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. If things went south and folks were destroying property, the curfew would allow anyone to be swept up and removed from the area, regardless of what could be proved about their criminal actions such as burglary and arson. That is why it was enacted.

The woman I married is special...I'm traveling for work. Best case is I get back to Ft Worth late tomorrow night.

She is a little concerned...we live way north of downtown, so no worries, but you know how women can be. Her nightstand gun is a nickle SP101 in .357, with laser sights. You wound think that a big dog and that hand cannon would make her feel safe.

...but she text me earlier "Is the old gun with the bullet holders that pop up and go BING the right one if I need to shoot through the front door or the gate?

Do not knock on my door tonight.

We all need to practice Whoa more.

I hope your neighbors don't order pizza delivery or that their address is at least clearly visible
