you could buy the motor, thrower, and timer and take them to a local welder and have him knock one out for a similar price.

I bought one the other day. Haven't put it out yet, but thought the price was good enough that worth a test. Only thing I don't like is that the motor is exposed on the bottom. I took a plastic container and used liquid nails to cover. If it gets knocked off, easy to re-apply. Could probably use pvc or something else just as easily. Time will tell.

it lasted 2 weeks when we got one to see.. The pigs destroyed the exposed motor underneath..we rewelded it and metal screws and again in 2 weeks the pigs tore it up....

TKandMike, What's the point of going through the hassle of buying individual parts, finding a welder, and waiting for him to build you one? Couldn't you do that with any feeder, not just this one?

I hope I have better luck. I was more worried about the coons. I wouldn't think a hog of any size would be able to get under there. Ramball can make you a real nice feeder I have one of those too. It's awesome!

Pigs can only get under the feeder from the two open ends. All it needs is two more cross braces or any size flat bar attached to the open ends. Self tapping screws and it's a 30 second fix

Bumping an old thread. I found these locally and was wondering how ya'lls were holding up and working. I have a chance to hunt in Oklahoma this year but they have pigs as well as bear in the area. My thought was to get one of these and maybe weld up the leg area with heavy pig panel, as well as anchor it to the ground. I'm curious does it ever get stopped up with that plate under there?

It's the best buy that there is --------- racoon proof, 600 lbs, throws 40 ft., solar panel , good timer,,,, animals wont move it. I have 3 of them, nothing else comes close for $400. Other feeders are as good,, but they cost twice as much. I suspect by Aug they will be sold out and you wont get one till next year. I put concrete sack over the legs ------ turns out that is not necessary. I painted mine, but just for the heck of it, not necessary.

I had one that was empty and got blown into a barbed wire fence during a bad storm this year. Lost the battery, but the timer and motor were still good once I replaced the battery. Gotta keep them with some corn during the spring storms I guess. Surprised it didn’t get damaged worse. The lid was blown off and the one side spring was stretched long and useless. I have ways to fix those though.
In the same storm I had a protein ASF lose its lid (same stretched spring) when the wind lifted it off even though strapped down, and soaked all the protein in it. had another corn feeder have its lid blown up and lost the timer due to rain. Fortunately that one was almost empty so didn’t lose a bunch of corn. I was so happy I had no damage to any blinds or tree stands. Lost quite a few trees though.

I have two. Like others mentioned, best feeder for the price, IMO. Yes, it's 600 lbs. No problems with anything getting to the motor on mine and I have a lot of hogs.

There have been several threads on this in the past. Do a search on here or just a search on Google. Those threads describe some modifications hunters made like the cross bracings, covers for the motors, etc. They also describe some changes made by ASF around the motor wire, etc. We have put U-post or T-post around a couple of the corners and used wire to secure them so that when they get real low or empty the winds do not blow them away. Another thing we did was to buy some of that paint used on cars with bare looking sheet metal to paint our feeders. They have an "Olive Drab" type color and this paint is more expensive but should last a long time. We do not like to have to repaint it every 2 years and we do not like the real shiny sheet metal for every hunter to see.

This one is 200 yards from the front porch and has been running nonstop for over a year. Zero problems and I’ve shot a lot of hogs around it. Also had cows in the pasture with it for 3 months and they haven’t hurt it at all.

ASF makes a solid feeder. I have seen a bunch of these at Buccees in FTW and Royse City. I will probably put one in next feed pen.
I had one not in a feeder pen and cattle had a field day with it. I was able to piece it back together.
