Rifle Gear in Plano usually has a bunch of CZ which I agree are great guns, but I'm a single action person. Hate the long heavy first shot. Hate the long heavy first shot. Just pull the hammer back and eliminate that problem. I shoot SIGS and carry a SIG and have yet to have to shoot it double action, always been time to pull the hammer back for that first shot. In the case of an emergency I'd much rather pull and shoot than pull, flip and shoot.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Hello bigbob. Just curious, are you alumni? The tales I could tell of a decade living in Stillwater. My handgun experiences are an example of one. I've owned a lot handguns in my life. Today, I own six pistols and am not looking to add anything else.
I owned several PX4. They were all F class with the decocker/safety. In 9mm I had FS, Compact, and SC. In 40 and 45 I had full-size. They were fine shooter and never failed. I just lost interest in them, as I often do. I think they are a good pistol for the price.
So why did I get rid of the PX4s? To go to the CZ75 and a couple of Tristar clones. The CZs and the clones were excellent shooters. Of these I owned the CZ 97b, 75b, 2075 Rami. I also had the Tristar T120, T100, C100. I'm not sure when I decided against the CZ, because even the clones were excellent shooters. I kinda just got tired of carrying cocked-and-locked. I wasn't prejudiced against the CZs. I got rid of my 1911s, P938 and P238 also.
I've had a 92fs Centurion, a 96fs, a few P226, P220, P227, and P229, a G19 and G26, many 1911s and pistols I can't even remember.
That takes me full circle to the MR918. I have three of them. They are what I carry and what I shoot. I'm in too deep to upgrade to the MR920, but would go that way if buying today.
With all of that said, and if I were looking specifically for a range toy; it would probably be a CZ75 or a 1911.

The way the slide rides within the frame of the CZ75, like the P210, really makes for a unique shooting experience. The bore axis is incredibly low and the slide is a bit lighter than traditional designs. It is somewhat similar to a 92fs, but still not the same. If you really want to go down the rabbit hole, Cajun Gun Works can help you improve your pistol and lighten your wallet at the same time.

Over the last 40 years I've owned just about any pistol you can think of from the major manufacturers including the ones the OP mentioned. These days, my go to pistols are either Glocks, 1911s, or an FNX-45 Tactical - almost always in .45 unless I want to pocket carry then it's a Glock 43 9mm. The FNX-45 tactical gives me a red dot and 16 rounds of .45. The Glock 43 gives me a pocket option, and my Les Bear 1911 Custom Carry lets me carry in class while my Colt Defender is a little less formal but just as deadly.
For me, the 9mm is a good round but a pocket carry round. I will always prefer 230gr of 11mm but that's just me.

The CZ SP-01 is a really nice pistol for that price range. Good suggestion.

The do have some polymer framed CZ 75s. That's my understanding as well. I shot one a couple years ago. Don't remember much about it spec-wise except that I really liked shooting it. And I'm fairly picky on pistols.

CZ75 BD is on my short list.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

Hate to pop your bubble, but the bore axis on the cz and 1911 are the same. Slide weights are pretty close too. They’re great shooting guns... it just isn’t due to bore axis And furthermore, I think the height of the bore Over one’s hand has nothing to do with shootability, and the whole bore axis thing is a myth perpetuated by Glock fanboys.
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Go to a range that has rental guns and shoot several. I'm a Sig and CZ fan.
