Based on our household income, I wasn't expecting to get any money. What did surprise me was that my teen daughter got a $1200 deposit. She worked as a lifeguard last summer and we filed her tax return earlier this year. Based on everything I have read, she shouldn't have received anything because we claimed her as a dependent on our taxes last year. So I'm wondering if there was some weird loophole that allowed kids under 17 to get checks if they filed a tax return for last year.

Thanks,
Rich

Socialism at its start. I won’t be getting one and am not complaining about it. . But will still be paying higher taxes to pay for those that do. This is one of dumbest things the government has done.
Hell of a thing to penalize someone for making over a certain amount and giving money to others that make less.

Did Bernie Sanders make this plan? Bunch of horseshit. Excited over $1200.00? Bet all of us own more than that in guns and ammo.

As history repeats itself. It is the Trump version of the Roosevelt Plan for getting us out of the Great Depression, throw money at it. Next will be a CCP program where the unemployed will work on public work projects. Anyone remember what happened after that ended? WWII, who will be the aggressor, China?

Only problem I have with your post dogcatcher is that WWII got us out of the depression, we were full in the depression all the way up to the attack on pearl, and the war effort got us out of our depression.
Despite all the efforts to spend our way out of the depression, it wasn’t until we got into the war that we rose out. One of the big reasons we didn’t join the war before was because we were so weak economically, had a very weak military due to the lack of funding and equipment was largely WWI era stuff.

The number of men that went into the military and the opening of the defense plants. But another thought, the Great Depression ended at the end of WWII when the returning soldiers came home and created new lives. Too many answers, and all of them are correct in their own way.

I wish I had waited before filing my 2019 taxes. The wife and I got dinged a bit due to my early retirement payout last year.

Fixing to apply for PPP, was it a hassle? What bank did you use?

I was shocked because all my life I learned FDR got us out of the depression. He was a savior that warranted being elected 3 times as president.

Wasn’t long into my young adult life that I learned otherwise. Shocking how revisionist history and teaching has distorted the truth. We were in a depression largely because of what he did, and of course presidency’s before his.

I still say the founders were wise in requiring land ownership as a prerequisite to voting. The times have changed enough that I can not say women and non-Caucasian’s shouldn’t vote, nor do I believe that, but there is definitely some wisdom in the land ownership point.

If I get one I'll just shred it. If you want to suckle on the government tit like the folks who get "entitlements", you can do it and live with it.

If I get one, I'll shred in on video and post it here.

Ntxtrapper, are you expecting to get one? I don’t need to know exacts, but is this something that should be coming to you?

Reason I ask, it is real easy to say that if you don’t have one coming and you know you don’t.

Having said that, if you don’t want “free” money, why don’t you take a video of you donating the money or buying some supplies and giving them to your local FD or hospital or something good, instead of just shredding it.

I have no clue if I'm getting one. Besides my principles on the matter of taking government assistance, my other issue is that the money was allocated in the first place and everyone who pays taxes will have to pay for it for years to come. Nancy and Chuck sure aren't going to pay for it all from their personal accounts. If it's never cashed, it's never spent.
