I would go with a double stack 45 ACP like a M&P or XD since you don't like Glocks.
I usually take Glock 41 in 45 ACP loaded with 255 grain hard cast.

You described a need for a shotgun, an 870 would fit that bill. For a pistol I rarely carry one when I do it is a Saturday night special junker that is a 22 revolver.

If you want to spend some money: HK USP Tac in 45. It’s by far my favorite auto pistol. It’s huge, but it’s a Cadillac to shoot. Has an o-ring on the barrel that locks it up real tight and should help with any dust and such while in the truck.
If you want to save some money: The Smith & Wesson M&P is a solid choice.

Judge, M&P, or PMR 30 are all great choices. I hate the grip angle on Glocks as well.

About the only caliber I would consider for a semi auto would be 357 SIG, it covers allot of ground. With that said I could probably be comfortable with a 5.7, not many hogs around here.
I'd much rather have a good revolver in 357, either single or double action.
I carry a 22 single six and a 357 or 30 carbine, all Ruger single actions. I've yet to ever shoot a round of snake shot in any caliber, they ain't that damn hard to hit. I've killed 3 so far this year and will probably get 30 to 50 more before it gets cold again, 98% will be with the single six and CCI Stingers. When I get a good supply for the 327 Single Seven I'll probably bench the 357 and the 30. One advantage to a 357 double action is the ability to switch loads real fast in case you need some heavier hog loads, I keep those in a speed loader.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I don't know if it's true or not but I can say this. I'm a much better shot with a good revolver than I am with a good semi, and I'm a damn good shot with a semi. I control every action of a revolver, nothing moves unless I move it. With a semi all you do is set it into action, wait until it's finished and then start the process again. I can shoot a double action revolver almost as fast as a semi if I need to and probably with a little more accuracy. Slow it down a little and I'll out shoot the semi every time in single action. We have to fully recover after a shot before we can get the next one off accurately and for me the drawing of the hammer back is part of helping me get back on target, I'm a part of the whole process. One of my claims to fame was shooting beer cans out of the air which I can do repeatedly with my old K-22 S&W, some times getting multiple hits before it hits the ground. As many times as I've tried with 22 semi's I've never been able to consistently hit as well. The only semi that rides in my truck is the one on my hip, anything that gets shot from the truck will be with a revolver. Two pistols with two entirely different purposes.

For what it's worth, I have two CZ75 clones in 9mm that both cycle snake/rat shot and +p self-defense rounds with 100% reliability.
I carried my GP100 for years when working out on the land until I realized that I could have 16+1 capacity and snake shot in the same gun. Mine are Tristar C100 and T100, made by Canik. Read up on these guns and how well they do in torture/dirt testing and you will be impressed.

Springfield XD .40 in a chest holster is my choice.
Can't remember, but I think holster is made by 2A holsters.
Gun is easy to get to, doesn't hang on my coat, seatbelt, levers in the tractor, brush, etc. Holster was $$, but worth every penny.
My .02 is, whatever gun you choose, look into a chest holster if you're gonna be working on the ranch with it.
How you do anything, is how you do everything.

Beretta PX4 in .45 full size with 10 rds should suffice. If you have never shot a .45 in a rotating barrel, be read to be surprised how well they shoot. If you prefer all metal, the predecessor 8045 Cougar can be found for $600.

Pretty similar reasoning for bolt action rifles. AR guys try to "miss fast enough to win", it never works. It takes personal discipline to shoot a semiautomatic rifle or pistol precisely. Slow down and make it count.

OP, the .357 single action, double action revolver is a damn good idea, since you don't like Glocks.
Jerry Mickulek will show you just how fast you can get off 12 rounds out of a double action revolver.

Well, had a member on here selling a FN 509 tactical, and I picked it up this weekend. I like it thus far. Got an Alien gear drop down leg holster ordered for it, but it won't be arriving until May sometime. I was always a fan of the FN's, so no buyers remorse, and hopefully I won't have any.

My Taurus Judge always rides the range with me. Couple of .410 slugs, a snake shot, and the rest 45 Colt. I feel I have every possible situation covered, and my Judge always goes "BANG" when I pull the trigger, regardless of how nasty the conditions or the firearm are. Gots lots of semi's, but they stay at the house when I'm out on the property.

I turn the cylinder to the 45 Colt, or pull through, in double action, until the 45 Colt comes up! It's not like I'm in any situation on my property where it's life or death. Nothing meaner than a hog around here, and in 50 years, I've never had one threaten me. Now, if I were rolling through bear country, my choices would be different.
