i have raised bob whites and teen reds for years when i lived in So calif. we formed an bird club with 6 of six and raised 300 -350 per year. Bob whites were non native in Calif so we got alto of dog trainman year round -

i live near Waco and if any of you want to raise birds i am in. we need a place to release them of course. i had three 30x8 pens with pass throughs to each so we could move the birds around. we install 1 inch concrete floor for easy cleaning and added auto water feeds - used 30 lb chicken feeders that would last 1/2 to a week depending on flock.

we would but chicks 3 weeks old so we would not have to have alot of heat - best birds were flight ready on another 12-14 weeks - reds flew a bit better but still about 25% would not fly much.

Ended up costing about 5-6 bucks a bird buying retail feed.

a team of four can handle the weekly chores and have alot of shooting if we had a spot to release them and raise them

PM if your interested

I would have been all over that back in the day. I live in a subdivision across the roas from a 3,500 acre ranch. It is a perfect location. I had to do it all by myself. We had NSTRA trials over there. I started with flight condttioned quail @ $5.00 each. Take a peek. Its an old photobuck picture. Its the best I could do.

I had to order a chukar funnel, cause the quail were too big to get through the quail funnel. I've had them go feral in the past. One year they raised two clutches.
