Cool! I'm getting ready to try it on an old dutch oven.

Thanks Cast. I have a larger new one that never became non-stick no mater how I seasoned it. I have it in the shop now grinding the inside to remove the machining grooves out of it. I have the bottom about 90% smooth and will work on the sides this week. Then it will be lard and oven time.

I had always used vegetable oil to season my cast iron till reading on here about the lard. Had some leftover lard from making tamales so I gave it a try. My opinion, the lard works night and day better than vegi oil.

It has given me a renewed interest in cast iron. That and im pretty much the only one who uses it and my wife will ask me "how do I clean this" before she touches it etc.

The fumes will also kill birds if you have any.
