Another update. Took the 300BO with the Wraith out last night and settled in to one of the blinds. No hogs showed up but these guys were part of a group of 6 that happened to still be around when I was getting ready to call it a night. Shot the first one, the others were sitting there looking at each other so I shot another one before they took off. The pen is 100 yards from the box and both shots were right where aimed. Still liking the Wraith but did notice some intermittent flickering last night. Nothing bad, just noticeable. All in all I still give a thumbs up for the Wraith- especially at the price point. Going to the thermal tonight....

Nice TXLT230. I did end up getting one too. They only had one left at Cabelas, the display model but it had only been in the case a few days. So between the display discount and my sons employee discount I got 25% off. Pretty happy with that. I've played with it some but looks like with the weather we have stacked up it may be a while before I get out and play with it.

Still happy with the wraith? I’m considering one (moving up from my green light) Yes- used it Friday night and took 3 hogs with it. I did add a higher-output IR illuminator and I can see to the 220 yard edge of the field with the illuminator set on 1/2 power. Here's the Friday night report: Friday hogs with the Wraith

Picked one of these up a couple months ago, my only complaints are that it's a bit fussy when focusing and it's a bit bright at night. Other than that I could not be happier with it. I did not get the white out when firing problem but I run suppressed at night which may have made a difference.
I do need to sit and look thru it in the field some more at night since I can see well with it but don't always know what I'm looking at, guess there's a learning curve to everything
Regards, Mark

I have one and love it, daylight is great and night vision is better than my Photon RT 4.5. It doesn't have some of the bells and whistles the photon does such as being able to use an app with it but I don't use that stuff anyway. The IR emitter that came with it is plenty powerful for me when and adjusted properly I can identify pigs at 250 yards and can see eyes glowing way past that. My only complaint is the weight, its a tank even heaver than the Photon.

I know this is an older thread. I’m considering the new 2-16 Wraith. I primarily hunt hogs at night with a crossbow. Do y’all think the 2-16 Wraith would work well for crossbow use?
Thanks,
Marty

I have the 2x and 4x, I’ll add the 4K model eventually. Love it for the price with upgraded IR light.

I don't know much about cross bows but if it has a picatinny rail mount the Wraith should fit it. Not sure how eye relief works on a cross bow but the rubber eye-guard can be removed so that you can see the entire screen if you have to use longer eye relief. You can select different reticles, some with hash marks. I assume you could use those to hold for elevation out to whatever range you feel comfortable with your cross bow.

I heard if you attached the ir light UNDER the Barrel.that it would solve the whiteout after a shot..just got mine last ..wwek..heard it's rated up to a 308 recoil..question..can it take the recoil on a 12gayge shotgun..I just bought an ar style 12 ga shotgun..to eliminate some hogs?

Mounting the illuminator on the fore end and below may help, but it sure won't end gunsmoke whiteout. Might check with the manufacturer on the 12ga recoil. I've had some 12ga loads kick the snot out of you... far beyond .308 recoil.

I have a Wraith with an aftermarket IR illuminator mounded on the fore end. The biggest advantage is you get better illumination at greater distances because you don't have light bouncing off the scope and handguard/barrel. With the illuminator mounted on the scope you will see shaded areas in the corners of the image (esp with the stock illuminator).
I initially mounted the illuminator under the barrel but didn't like this setup because it always seemed to be in the way. I moved it to the right side of the fore end and I like it much better when I'm resting the rifle on something for a shot.

Thanks bbarvranch.....I was thinking the same thing. The wraith is rated for a 308..but I've seen it do ok with a 338..pit tore to lie es with a .50 cal..might just stick with the 556 or ar 10.
