Tried the CFS at Peabody's Cafe in Goldthwaite this year. I made the mistake of getting the large....wholly molly. It was half of a cow! Very good taste and had enough left over for dinner the next night! Mashed potatoes and red beans were great too.

Funny I just saw this thread bc we stopped in Strawn at Mary's last night and had their cfs. Its pretty darn good. I like the thin batter, good change of pace. I am a big fan of the chicken fry ribeye at sweety pies in Decatur. Never left disappointed.

If y’all think the Beehive in Albany is great, you must not get out much.
Helluva a lot better food and service out there. It's the destination that counts sometimes! Leave the city and 3 hours later anything tastes good!!

Y’all gonna make me fat...er. I see a CFS order getting placed for pick up at SaltGrass in my near future. To me they have some of the best around and plenty big enough for two.

Fly by night in Cleburne has a awesome chicken fried steak.It might be the best one I have had in a long time. Looking forward too going back.

I agree Mary's has the Best I have ever eaten! I have traveled all over the State and tried a lot of CFS there is some good ones and a whole lot of Very Bad CFS out there !! Always come Back to Mary's for my all time favorite!! I live about 40 miles east of Dallas but the trip to Mary's is never to far!!! All 0f the food there is awesome !

I have another vote for Mary`s Café. Our family ate there on 2-28 and it was probably the best chicken fried steak I have eaten in . I could have literally eaten it with a spoon. We have been eating @ Mary`s for over 30 years and it was the best I have ever had from ANY restaurant. My only regret was I only got a small. I could have eaten a medium because it was so good. I am glad I only live 22 miles away, and there is only 1 stop sign between me and Mary`s Cafe.

Went there once on a holiday with limited time, after about 20 minutes of not getting waited on we left. Also surprised the Mary haters have not chiming in.
