I have the Caldwell dead shot bag and I let a little bit of fill out of it. Works pretty well for my rifles that don't handle bipods well.

Can turn it on it's side for some added height.

We have also used a bag of corn at the deer lease.

Caldwell works well, readily available, and not expensive.

I bought some Caldwell bags for my daughter and I to use yesterday. I got the “Dead Shot” bags. They worked great. The forward bag was too large for her. She balanced the rifle using the rear bag on the front and a box of ammo on the back. She shot 2.5” groups at 100 yards and it was her first day to shoot. She hammered 4” groups with a single shot 22” with iron sights at 50 yards with the bag. I was amazed at her comfort level and afford some of it to the stability the bag gave her.

I got the "Outdoor Connection Mega-Leather Filled Bench Bag" from Optics Planet via Amazon in April 2014. It's a butterfly bag, so you can use in the groove, across the groove, the top, bottom, front, back, or either side or end of the bag depending on what height you want. It does have a row of ammo loops on either side if you use it in the traditional way. It came filled and weighs about 25 pounds, but shipping was free with Amazon. When I bought it, it was $39.99. I just checked and it looks like it's gone up to $49.24.

I also have a 3-bag set from Caldwell. It's a nice set, but I find myself using the butterfly bag the most from a bench.

PSA: You really have to watch that place. This is the 3rd time I’ve bought something “on sale” there that rang up regular price. They had this listed on the shelf for $39 normally $49. It happens so much, I was actually waiting for it to ring up wrong and at their full price. And it did. I’m totally on to their little game.

I like the Protektor leather bags. Their alum front rest is nice, I built a 1/2” steel plate for the bottom of mine.

Just an FYI, Greg.....corporate makes the ‘on sale’ decisions at Cabelas, (except some ‘Clearance’ items), and the stores often aren’t aware of some or just haven’t had time to catch up. It’s not really a game or scheme of any kind and it causes just as much unwanted hassle for the employees that have to fix the mistakes.

I hear you P_102, but if someone’s gonna take the time to put a shelf sku sticker next to the original advertising its $10 less and on sale, then they need to change it in the system as well so it reflects at the register. It’s sad when the first thought that goes thru my mind is... “I bet this rings up full price”. At least this time I didn’t get home first and have to drive back up there.

Agree. It should be "in the system" before the sale sticker is even printed. Or, the sticker printer & "the system" should be linked together. When the sale sticker is printed, it changes it "in the system" automatically. That would be ideal.

There is ZERO excuse for this to happen with a huge outfit like Cabelas. You can bet that when an item has its price raised it changes in the system automatically. So.....what does that tell you.

These stores run different sales each week it was probably the sales tag from the previous week that someone forgot to remove. Chances are you got the item at the sale price anyway because it was marked wrong. Why are we complaining so much?
