Knowing the spread I took a little more time and I came up within a 1/2 inch of 130.
Did yal score him Don? or just showin him off? Is a good lookin buck either way.
The hunter and I scored him. A first for both of us. It was also the largest Buck he had ever gotten. I just used a cheap tape measure. We came up with a score but did not take any deductions. I plugged the measurements into the B&C site. They came up with a score with deductions. The hunter took the Buck to get mounted and the Taxidermist scored it. G2 Right 10 6/8 G2Left 10 4/8

That's awesome, Don. I bet he's a happy customer. I was estimating a little less on the tines. Came up with 136 with the new info.
And now I'm anxiously awaiting the results to see just how dumb I am.

Not sure I understand your meaning? 'Judging' the size of antlers in the field can be done pretty accurately if you can see them from at least two angles (preferably from the front and side). The reason for this is...you have the rest of the animal to look at for perspective. Also, knowing where the buck came from is helpful.
I have over 50 years experience hunting whitetails in South, Central and Eastern Texas. That doesn't make me an expert judging antler size, if fact..it is because I know perspectives can be misleading that I am asking questions. NOT questioning whether its a nice deer. Clearly it is...and I've said so in every post. So if you have something constructive to offer, lets hear it.
I imagine Don already knows the green score of the buck and is not asking for 'help', just seeing what people think.
You lead with 'impossible to make a reasonable estimate'. I would ask what you consider 'reasonable' as a bunch of other people in here made it seem pretty easy and their guesses IMO are pretty reasonable. But let me quit being an [censored] and try to be constructive.
The guy's finger is in the picture around the base, most fingers are ~1/2" in diameter, from there you can extrapolate the base diameter to around 1.5" (so ~4.5" of mass at the base) and then compare that measurement to the G1 and get the G1 length. With the G1 length you can estimate the lengths of the other tines. After we were given the spread (and even without it) it would not have been hard to guess at beam length. With as much experience as you have, you know most decent deer fall in the 19-21" range on beams, is this one higher/lower than average? If so, add a little. Here was my total for 133.5
Spr 19.5 G1s 6" total G2s 21" total G3s 19" total Beams 44" total Mass 4.5 3.5 2.5 1.5 = 12" total x2 = 24"
Myself and the hunter who are first time scorers came out with 145 I plugged our measurements which I don't know if they were entirely correct into the B&C website and they came out with 137. The taxidermist said it was 140. You 120 people are going to have to do more practicing. Not too bad for a Deer that was not on a protein diet and was only $800. Only bad thing is that now all the hunters are going to want one like that and there may never be another on this place.

Heck I was there. My brother shot that 8. My first thoughts when I seen them drive up and I got a really good look At him was 137. With that said best buck my brother ever shot for all that matters better than anything I have ever harvested. I'm so happy for him and proud to have been there when he bagged him. I only wish we could have taken better pictures. He took the shot at 6:02 pm with about 15 minutes of legal light, temperature was at 72 degrees so we took what we could and I caped him out. As far as Don goes, he is a great host and just plain good person ( they don't make many like him anymore) His ranch is a beauty in itself. As for me I passed on one that I should have pulled the trigger on a stout little 11 pointer and a few nice 8's . Hoping not to top my brothers but the one I shot at Don's last year. Are hunt was cut short for medical situation back home that my brother had to see too. I'm hoping to get back there and finish what I started to do. I really didn't want to post this as I consider Dons ranch my secret little honey hole, but got to give credit and recognition for a great place. Many thanks Don for having us and hope to get back out there soon When I get back Sunday night I'll have a few more pictures to post

Like others have said, it’s a dandy buck regardless of score. I’ve personally never seen a buck that big in the Hill Country so I’m thinking a fella could hunt a lifetime there and never see a bigger one.
