djones ... any wear on the deflector with that load and setup? 5:00 is close and with factory ammo.
after he shot one round to rechk zero, i snapped a pic of the shell deflector. doesn't have a mark on it. not sure how that happened unless the cases just happen to tumble around it??
Well, my 300 Ham'r got christened this week. Wife and I spent 4 days in Ark. deer hunting. I finally had a shot on the third day and I nailed him thru a thicket. Only problem was I was so cold I forgot pics. but I got meat in the freezer. The 130 gr took him down, he didn't run 20 yds. I hope do get another buck this week now we are back home. Thanks Daniel

Congrats
Bummer on the pics, how big?
Don't ask! Size really didn't matter, it was a meat hunt. SE Arkansas is over run with does enough that a Non- resident can take up to 6 deer but of the 6 only 2 can be bucks with at least 3 points on one side.
My wife Joyce shot this nice 10pt last night at last light from 145yds, DRT. She couldn't have made the shot without the Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40, love those scopes. 300 HAM'R 150gr SST

Yes you are seeing it wrong, it’s all part of the upper. Some designs like LaRue that break down to 2 upper components will not be GTG but the Wilson design you are solid.

But I was always under the believe that a scope mounted to both upper and lower was a no-go.
Is that ok? Or am I seeing it wrong?
No, your not seeing it wrong, the front ring is on the handguard in the rearmost slot. However the way our handguard mounts so solid and the solid portion of the steel bbl nut is right below the scope ring I have never had any issues with this set-up which I have on several guns up to .458 SOCOM. Even with the bbl hot I don't see any POI shift. I like these rings because they only weigh 5oz and the rifle fits into my Big Sky gun racks in our Kawasaki mules properly, which our V3 mount doesn't.
A good deer hunting morning, I saw 9 bucks between 7am and 9am, all 8pt or better and I couldn't pass up this 18" spread heavy horn 8pt !
My longest deer shot with the 300 HAM'R to date, EXACTLY 220yds (I know this because he was on my 1200yd range at the left 200yd marker and I was 20yds behind the firing line), DRT (thank God because he was standing at the edge of a really nasty thicket), 150gr SST. Quartering shot, entered the front of the shoulder and exited in the offside flank, approx 20" of penetration.
The BIG one I saw last night makes this one look like a basket rack deer !!!
That old saying that "everything in Texas is bigger" must be true! I managed an eight pointer on Sat. and it didn't look half as big as Bill's, and only a third of Joyce's monster. But it still counts as another kill for the 300 HAM'R. I have to say I'm very pleased with the 130 gr. Speer HotCore! The deer just dropped.
Our family went to our property for the holidays. My oldest daughter used the 300 HAM’R to take a broken leg buck and a turkey. She did a gtreat job. The buck has had a bad leg for a year and went from a 10pt to this. On the buck I asked her to make a neck shoot for the first time. She missed but the deer didn’t run off. Her second shot was the normal shot she makes and it did the job. The deer ran into the trees. I showed her the blood and off she went. It was a great time! The turkey is perfect timing for the holidays.
It is a HAM'Ring start of the season. My hunting partner #1 dropped a really nice 8-point in its tracks yesterday, and hunting partner #2 repeated the process today. Counting the 8 I got last week that is three the HAM'R has put down for us. The first two were through and through, but the one today had the bullet go in right behind the right shoulder and I found it right under the skin on the back of the left hindquarter. The 130 HotCore had 23 inches of penetration and 85% weight retention (111 grains), I can't complain about the rifles, bullets, or loads. (Does that take some of the fun out it? After all, this is the internet.)
