I drank bourbon most of my adult life, then a close, older friend (now gone) got me on Scotch. Nothing goes with a cigar like a single malt. But Vodka and Gin are the less-calorie choice. Moderation in all things.

Hey Bill Put up that post about whiskey.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/If-by-whiskeyMy friends, I had not intended to discuss this controversial subject at this particular time. However, I want you to know that I do not shun controversy. On the contrary, I will take a stand on any issue at any time, regardless of how fraught with controversy it might be. You have asked me how I feel about whiskey. All right, here is how I feel about whiskey: If when you say whiskey you mean the devil's brew, the poison scourge, the bloody monster, that defiles innocence, dethrones reason, destroys the home, creates misery and poverty, yea, literally takes the bread from the mouths of little children; if you mean the evil drink that topples the Christian man and woman from the pinnacle of righteous, gracious living into the bottomless pit of degradation, and despair, and shame and helplessness, and hopelessness, then certainly I am against it. But, if when you say whiskey you mean the oil of conversation, the philosophic wine, the ale that is consumed when good fellows get together, that puts a song in their hearts and laughter on their lips, and the warm glow of contentment in their eyes; if you mean Christmas cheer; if you mean the stimulating drink that puts the spring in the old gentleman's step on a frosty, crispy morning; if you mean the drink which enables a man to magnify his joy, and his happiness, and to forget, if only for a little while, life's great tragedies, and heartaches, and sorrows; if you mean that drink, the sale of which pours into our treasuries untold millions of dollars, which are used to provide tender care for our little crippled children, our blind, our deaf, our dumb, our pitiful aged and infirm; to build highways and hospitals and schools, then certainly I am for it. This is my stand. I will not retreat from it. I will not compromise.

Woodford Reserve is good. I acquired a bottle of Henry Mckenna 10 Year today. I am anxious to try it... Friday.

This and nothing else for me: Yuck. Whats the matter with you? I thought you had good taste? This is not something you slam by the gallon, but with a good fire, or a Monday Night Football Game on a rare night with the house to yourself, maybe a cigar (I hate cigars) but spend an hour so sipping over a ball of ice. The world becomes a much better place.

You lost me at "I hate cigars". And "ball of ice". OK, let me splain. Buddy talked me into smoking a "good" cigar, expensive is what he meant. It wasn't bad actually, but the next morning my mouth was nasty, I swear I coughed up something you could patch roof with.

The world becomes a much better place. I do. Lots of people recommended that bourbon, I bought it, hated it. Also hate Bulliet. There are much better for that price. I don’t slam them back, mix them, or ice them down.

Bulleit isn’t my favorite bourbon either, but a lot of people like it. Just never enjoyed it.

It wasn't bad actually, but the next morning my mouth was nasty, I swear I coughed up something you could patch roof with. The morning after they brought my grandson (#1 grandchild) home from the hospital, and after I'd helped my son-in-law pick out cigars at at a Lubbock cigar shop (his idea), and we'd both smoked cigars on his backporch with some bourbon, he kept asking me, "Does your throat feel alright? Do you still taste that cigar" It's not for everyone.

Bulleit isn’t my favorite bourbon either, but a lot of people like it. Just never enjoyed it. Bulleit is a high rye bourbon which results in a spicier taste. Makers Mark is a high wheat and Woodward Reserve is in the middle.

I don’t care for Woodward Reserve. I had a single barrel, or batch can’t remember, of JD rye the other night. I thought that was damn good for JD.

Had some for a dive hunt with all the buddies recently. Set it out. Everyone drank the other stuff so I took mine home. It was gone in 3 days. I dig Woodford, haven’t had bulleit in a while.
Will NOT ever drink Wild Turkey again. First ever liquor drunk for me. Went down, drunk, came up soon after. Yuk
