super chargers and pro chargers are mechanically driven. both are designed to give instant response. turbos lag

No. They are different. Whipples, Magnacharger, Eaton's are PD (positive displacement) or roots type blowers. They deliver boost linearly so as RPM's increase the boost remains constant. Procharger, A&A, etc are centrifugal blowers. They build boost as RPM's rise so you won't see power gain until the boost is raised at higher RPM's. That is why they have a lag.

PD blowers are better for low end torque and lower RPM vehicles...that's why you seem them as better applications for trucks. Centrifugal blowers are better for high RPM vehicles like sports cars where you want max HP at redline.

Here's a good explanation....

Faster? Idk how much faster he could get stuck. He bogs down in wet grass.

i'm aware of the difference of consistent vs progressive boost. but both are mechanically driven and both produce boost at low rpm vs a turbo that needs to "spool up" or in other words, "lag"
