Have some comfy camp shoes as well.
Many an elk has been taken near or in camp, hunt mid day as well, most hunters will be in camp and elk can move all day if conditions are right.

Yelp, Fire is a big no no especially if all leather boot.

Agree with BOBO and Wytex, take both pair and "wing it", sucks to have miserable feet with another pair of good shoes at home.

I prefer a shoe that fit nearly like a tennis shoe, just with a bit more support, will admit I have hunted elk in sneaker style hiking shoes 80% of the time even in colder weather even tho I have 2 pairs of super insulated sorels.

Find the cows and bulls will be in the heavy stuff at higher altitudes, usually. But as said, don't ignore the lower elevation stuff. We didn't draw pronghorn in Wyoming so we scotched the whole trip this year. Going to hunt ducks in Kansas. I'm sixty, and overweight but in shape enough to climb the the three 14rs in the Wemeniche. Have fun, rest when you need to. If you don't have extra days to acclimate, diamox can help. I've used it before when I needed to make a climb without acclimation time. Climb high, sleep low is the high altitude mantra and I think it applies to hunters as well. If you use diamox, drink water because it can dehydrate you.

No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.
